Our Growing Together - DNR Grant Recognition Event is in the Books. Thanks to all who turned out to celebrate our community and the ongoing progress being made at our newest park. Duenweg Founders Park and Memorial Trails is already a great outdoor space to go for a walk either on then concreate trail or on the grass nature trail. There are also plenty of benches and tables to sit at and enjoy the outdoors. The tables and benches are made from recycled tires (with at least 40% of the tires coming from Missouri). They were all acquired through a grant from The Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
The recently finished, low maintenance picnic shelter was designed and build to last for decades with little to no maintenance which will save the tax payers money. It is also designed to have minimal wind resistance to help it survive high winds and storms better than a more closed in roof structure.
Many Thanks To:
MO DNR
Solid Waste Management District M
Entire Staff at City Hall - Especially Terry Edwards
Duenweg Public Works - Especially Ron Klein
Duenweg Board of Alderman & Mayor Olds
Schuber Mitchell Homes
Spicer Family
Boy Scout Troup 333
A couple from Southwind Trails who wanted to remain anonymous. (The helped put together all of the benches).

More events at Founders Park will be coming later this summer as we continue to develop the park.

You know that moment in Jaws where they say "You're gonna need a bigger boat"? Well, there may have been a similar thought as we tried to loosen up the dirt to prepare for tomorrow. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ ๐Ÿ˜† Bigger tools would have been helpful, but after some hard work though, we got two areas ready for seeds! The seeds are loaded and ready to come home with you tomorrow, so bring your kiddos and help us celebrate Duenweg's newest park! We can't wait to see your smiling faces at 10a.m.!

Also, we would love to have your help next time, so if you don't mind getting dirty and want to help make our community better, please send us a message!

This Saturday we will be fulfilling the final requirement for a grant from DNR. It allowed us to obtain benches and picnic tables made from recycled tires at no cost.
We decided to use the event to plant flower seeds and give seeds to anyone who wants them. We want to encourage the community to come together as one during this time of growth in our town. We also want to show off the progress we are making at our new park. The park is far from complete but we continue to work towards making all of our parks better. We are still a small town and have limited funds so we can only do so much at one time as revenue comes in. We hope to be able to do more in the future as the small sales tax increase takes effect and more revenue comes in. (Thanks Citizens of Duenweg)
Letโ€™s grow together and become one community dedicated to making our town an even better place to live.

It's a beautiful day in Founders Park! Spotted these gorgeous spring ephemerals while walking the native trail. We also heard and saw several different kinds of birds including scissortailed flycatchers, swallows, red winged black birds, and dickcissels!

After you come by Saturday morning and help us plant some seeds, you should take a stroll around the trail and see these flowers for yourself. You'll even be able to take home your own seeds to make your own little slice of pollinator heaven. โค๐Ÿ We can't wait to see you!
