The Duette Fire & Rescue Volunteer Association comes together several times a year to conduct fundraisers to provide much needed help for the community overall in need. Examples include food & water distribution during hurricane Irma, we provided a hot shower and meals to many and donations went throughout Florida and Puerto Rico as well in 2017. We also provide an annual Christmas Dinner for less fortunate children in the area, many who are children of migrant workers, a gift from Santa.

In spite of what you may have seen or heard, there is NOT anything brewing in the Caribbean.

I really want to thank Tina Laird and Danielle Backhoff with the firefighters auxiliary leading to feed the community tonight and everything the auxiliary has done throughout both storms, simply amazing. I love being apart of this community.

Storm surge can cause major damage to your home and pose a significant threat for drownings - making it one of the greatest threats to life and property from a hurricane. Listen to local officials and evacuate immediately if told to do so. If you’re not in an evacuation zone, be sure to stay away from floodwaters and never drive through water-covered roads. Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown! https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/surge/resources.php
