Educators were in the rain this Tuesday to protest the closure of up to 16 public schools in Minneapolis.

Under capitalism, public schools cannot thrive. It is no secret that the billionaire class is trying to privatize public education and make it a commodity. Public education will stay under attack until workers have power and a real say in how their communities are run.

Join us at the Minnesota Socialism Summit to talk about what it will take to defeat the billionaire agenda and build a world run by us, the working-class. Register at bit.ly/mnsocialism

✊SWIPE TO IMAGINE SOCIALISM IN MINNESOTA✊

Socialism is more popular than ever in the United States. What would it mean for all of us to have a system that is actually planned to meet our needs and those of the planet?

Are you tired of a system that only serves the rich and powerful? Join us at the Minnesota Socialism Summit on October 24 to learn about socialism and envision what it means for us all! Register at bit.ly/mnsocialism

Eliza Winston’s story is Minnesota history!

165 years ago, Eliza was brought from Tennessee to Minneapolis by her vacationing enslavers. With help from a network of local abolitionists, she managed to win her freedom and end de facto slavery in Minnesota, forever disrupting the profit-driven collaboration between Minnesota’s tourist industry and Southern enslavers.

Eliza’s legacy shows us that liberation is never handed down to us by those in power. WE free ourselves, and WE free each other.

Join us on October 24th to learn more about our history of resistance and how we can continue building towards our collective liberation!

Capitalist Downsizing Won’t Transform MPS!

On September 15th, Minneapolis District staff presented 3 plans to the community and school board outlining major changes. Although the plans were cloaked in the language of transformation, pathways, and optimization, we see through the rhetoric and understand these plans as disruptive school closures that harm families and unravel the fabric of neighborhood communities.

The recurring MPS budget issues cannot be solved under our current capitalist system, where public schools aren’t guaranteed sufficient funding, and have to compete with private schools for enrollment, which increases a school’s revenue. In a socialist system schools would be the gem of the community. Resources for war and extraction would be redirected towards education, children, and families. This model builds a society where the basic needs of people are met, allowing every individual to reach their full potential, and reducing the need for punitive measures, such as jails and prison.

Join us at a rally alongside educators next week to save our schools!
