It is Sámi Language Week: Giellavahkku!

It is Sámi Language Week! Giellavahkku!

The Sámi language is actually 10 distinct languages, all of which are part of the Uralic family of languages.

North Sámi language has the most speakers. Overall, Sámi languages are considered endangered by UNESCO, but there are many revitalization efforts taking place in communities to ensure the languages live on for future generations.

We are wondering if anyone might be traveling from Duluth to Hancock, MI in the next couple of weeks and would have room to transport an art exhibit to the Finnish Heritage Center.
