We have some students who will need scholarships to attend and we are asking to the community to help. If you want to sponsor all or part of a student’s tuition, please visit www.dulutharmory.org/donate and specify it’s for MRC. Every dollar goes to the supplies and food costs (they drink a LOT of lemonade! 😅)

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our Board Chair, Carolyn Sundquist, who has received the 2026 G. Bernard Callan Jr. Award for Outstanding Volunteer from the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions!

For more than 30 years, Carolyn has been a champion for historic preservation in Duluth. That work includes helping save the historic Duluth Armory from demolition and becoming a founding member of the Armory Arts & Music Center.

Today, she continues that work as our Board Chair as we bring the Armory back to life.

Congratulations, Carolyn! We are so grateful for your leadership, persistence and decades of commitment to Duluth.

Welcome to the team, Gabby!!

Gabby is the Operations & Administrative Coordinator at the Armory Arts & Music Center. She brings a background in nonprofit operations, communications, and event management, with previous experience at sports organizations including USA Curling and U.S. Ski & Snowboard. She enjoys bringing people and ideas together and being part of projects that strengthen the community.

Gabby is passionate about preserving Duluth’s historic buildings and ensuring they remain part of the city’s future. She is excited to be part of the effort to preserve and reimagine the Duluth Armory as a space for arts, music, and community, and looks forward to helping shape its next chapter.

We are excited to have her on board!

🎶 Do you love music? Want to help the next generation discover it?

As we plan for another year of Music Resource Center - Duluth Armory programming, we're looking for people who want to get involved. Whether you're interested in volunteering, mentoring, teaching lessons, leading workshops, or sharing your love of music with local youth, we'd love to hear from you.

We're also looking for community support to help provide scholarships for students to participate. Every volunteer, instructor, and donation helps open the door to music for another young person.

One of the most interesting projects happening inside the Duluth Armory right now is excavating the pit for our future elevator.

Believe it or not, in its 110-year history, the Armory has never had an elevator. Adding one is an important step toward making this historic building accessible for everyone.

You might expect a project like this to involve a Bobcat or other heavy equipment. But inside a 110-year-old building, things aren't always that simple. The space is so tight that our construction team is digging the elevator pit by hand. Every shovel full of dirt is loaded onto a conveyor belt, carried up to the next level, and then hauled out of the building.

It's slow, physical work, but every shovel full brings us one step closer to welcoming the community back to the Duluth Armory.

A huge thank you to the incredible crews from Red Cedar Steel and KTM Paving, Inc. for making it happen!

Meet Rhea.
She's one of the talented union carpenters with Carpenters Local 361, helping bring the historic Duluth Armory back to life. For her, this project is a true labor of love.

The team at Kraus-Anderson is making incredible progress every week as we move into the build-out stage. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this project this summer. Your hard work is bringing new life to this historic landmark.

We can't wait to share what's next. ❤️

Meet Warren from Forging Community. When the Armory opens in Fall 2027, you'll be able to watch blacksmithing demonstrations, take classes, and experience this incredible craft up close.
