🚒 Training Night Recap – June 16, 2026 🚒
This past Tuesday, members of the Canosia Volunteer Fire Department participated in a large-scale vehicle extrication training exercise involving a simulated crash between a loaded propane truck and a four-door sedan with a trapped occupant.
This complex scenario challenged responders to work through multiple hazards, including stabilization of the heavily loaded propane truck, securing the passenger vehicle, patient access, and a safe extrication of the victim. These types of realistic training opportunities allow our members to sharpen their skills, improve communication, and practice problem-solving in a controlled environment before facing similar situations in the real world.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Lake City Towing for providing equipment and assistance with the exercise. We also want to thank our neighboring partners from Fredenberg Volunteer Fire Department and the St Louis County Rescue Squad for joining us. It was a great example of agencies working together, sharing knowledge, and strengthening the relationships that are critical during actual emergencies.
Most importantly, thank you to all of the firefighters, rescue personnel, and support members who participated. The teamwork, professionalism, and willingness to collaborate were on full display throughout the evening.
A special thank you also goes out to our Fire and Medical Training Officers. While members often see the two- to three-hour training sessions, countless hours are spent behind the scenes planning, coordinating resources, building realistic scenarios, and ensuring training is both safe and effective. Their dedication plays a vital role in maintaining the readiness of our department and surrounding agencies.
Training like this helps ensure that when our community needs us most, we are prepared to respond safely, efficiently, and as a team.
