Today is the 249th ! 🎂 That's 249 years of being all we can be. 🎉 The U.S. Army was the first military branch established by a nation already at war. "This We'll Defend" has been our Army's motto since the Revolutionary War. It reminds us that our purpose is timeless and clear: to fight and win our Nation's wars. 80 years ago today, the D-Day operation, code-named Operation Overlord, of June 6, 1944, brought together the land, air, and sea forces of the allied armies in what became known as the largest amphibious invasion in military history. Today, we Remember, we honor, we salute, and we are thankful for the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom. We honor the brave heroes who stormed the beaches of Normandy, marking the beginning of the end of World War II. On this historic day, we remember the sacrifices made on , 80 years ago.

We express our gratitude to the greatest generation, whose legacy of bravery and sacrifice lives on. We honor the fallen, the survivors, and the veterans who returned home to rebuild a better world. Their stories remind us that freedom is not free.
