ry:
Children's Story Times:
Story Times for kids ages 3 through 6 years include engaging stories and a variety of other activities such as Flannel board stories, songs, action rhymes and crafts. They also provide a fun atmosphere for children to spend time at the library and interact with other children. Summer Reading Program:
Every summer, the Dumas Library presents a 6-week entertainment program for children ages 3 through 12. The program features a variety of age appropriate programs based on the Summer Reading theme for that year. The program is free and open to all preschool and school aged children. Registration is required. Please contact the Dumas Library to learn about registration and programming. Details about this year's Summer Reading Program will be posted here when available. Group Visits to the Library:
Library staff can tailor age appropriate programs to meet your specific needs. Themed story times, introductions to library services, introductions to online researching, and overviews of resources in specific subjects are some of the programs offered. Library staff can work with you to create a memorable, informative program for your group or class. Please schedule your visit a minimum of two weeks in advance. Visits to your School or Organization:
Library staff offers to travel to preschools, childcare facilities, schools, and community organizations. Services offered include thematic programs tailored to individual curriculums and book selections. Please contact your Library to schedule a visit two weeks in advance. Memorials:
Book memorials are a very special way to pay tribute to a friend or loved one. You can also sponsor books to honor others who are important to you. For example, you might like to purchase a book to express appreciation for a favorite teacher, commemorate a child's birthday, or honor a couple on their anniversary. You may suggest a category (sports, gardening, art, etc.) that the book might represent. A gift plate with your name and the name of the person you are honoring will be placed in the book. The library will send a certificate to the person being honored or to the family if the book is a memorial. For more details on memorials and honor donations, please contact your librarian. Recycling:
The Dumas Library supports a green way of living: Patrons have the opportunity to donate used books to the library. All material donated should be in good shape, clean and in re-usable condition. Depending on the material, Library staff will decide if the donation qualifies as addition to the library's circulation collection. Material that doesn't meet the collection criteria will be entered in the Library's Annual Community Book Sales that are held several times a year. All book sale proceeds benefit the children's Summer Reading Program and will help to fund these programs. The Library welcomes donations since the re-usage of books reduces paper waste and gives other readers access to books for a minimum of costs. To drop off more voluminous book donations, please contact the library in advance. Your librarian will assist you in handling the donation. Small book donations are accepted at the circulation desk anytime. For a more detailed description of services, please visit or contact the Dumas Branch Library!
