It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of K-9 Ronin (Retired), who passed away yesterday due to health-related complications.

K-9 Ronin served the Dumas Police Department and our community with unwavering loyalty, courage, and dedication. Throughout his career, Ronin was more than just a police dog—he was a trusted partner, a protector, and a valued member of our department family.

Ronin’s service and commitment will never be forgotten. He stood alongside his handler, Sgt. Sladek, and fellow officers with honor, helping keep our community safe while leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him.

We ask that you keep Sgt. Sladek, our officers, and all who knew him in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Ronin. Thank you for your service. 🐾💙

The Dumas Police Department is proud to have such dedicated Animal Control Officers who go above and beyond to help animals find their new “furever” homes. Their efforts include participating in community events like those held this past weekend. In partnership with Dumas Family Farm Store and Yes Finance, they successfully placed four dogs and one cat into loving homes, making it a very successful Saturday.

When you see Tabitha Gipson, Breanna Ledbetter, and Ashley Green out and about, be sure to give them a wave and let them know their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed—we truly appreciate all they do!
