⚠️ ILLEGAL DUMPING INVESTIGATION ⚠️

Moore County is currently experiencing a significant increase in illegal dumping throughout our county. Items being discarded include refrigerators, freezers, tires, household trash, and even deceased livestock and pets. This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Let us be clear—those who choose to treat our county like a dumping ground will be held accountable. While our jail may often be at capacity, we will make room for individuals who knowingly violate the law and disrespect our community in this way.

Illegal dumping is not only an eyesore; it creates health hazards, environmental damage, and places an unnecessary burden on our citizens and resources.

We are actively investigating these cases and have partnered with Moore County Crime Stoppers to combat this issue. A reward will be offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for illegal dumping in Moore County.

If you see something, say something. You can report tips directly to the MCSO, or anonymously through Moore County Crime Stoppers.

MCSO - 806-935-4145 or stop by at 700 S. Bliss Avenue here in Dumas.

MC Crime Stoppers - 806-935-TIPS (8477) or www.p3tips.com/1066

Together, we can keep Moore County clean, safe, and something we can all be proud of.

Thank you,

Last week, the children of Miss Emily's Kids daycare were kind enough to bring us gifts for National Police Week 2026!

These amazing kids were not only kind enough to reach out, but also thoughtful enough to bring us donuts, (our favorite) as well as some incredible artwork showing their support!

We here at the Moore County Sheriff's Office greatly appreciate the crime-fighting fuel, & are proud to have their masterpiece work on display here at the Sheriff’s Office!

So, thank you MEK for your support! We certainly appreciate it, & it's our honor to serve such an outstanding community!

HAPPY NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK 2026!!!

This week, the Moore County Sheriff's Office would like to express our gratitude to all of the incredible Telecommunicators we have the benefit and honor to be able to work with every day and every night.

Professional Emergency Telecommunicators, commonly known as "Dispatchers" are often the first point of contact for citizens in our community calling for help in an emergency, or to report other issues.

In order to get our Firefighters, EMS personnel, Animal Control, other public services, and Law Enforcement responders on-scene to help, our Telecommunicators maintain a constant state of readiness at the Sheriff's Office so that they are always ready to answer the call and help coordinate resources as needed.

Aside from managing radio traffic for Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement, our Telecommunicators may guide callers through administering CPR, and even stay on the line with callers during emergency situations to help provide them with instructions and a steady source of assistance until other responding units arrive on scene.

When our Telecommunicator team isn't out getting nominated for prestigious awards and volunteering to help with local events, you can find them in the Communications Center, doing what they do best. From a citizen calling to report a theft, to answering a call reporting a major explosion, and everything in between, the Moore County Sheriff's Office Telecommunicator team handles it all, no matter how big or how small the problem.

Often unseen, but always appreciated, we really can't thank our Telecommunicators enough for stepping up time and time again to be the first point of contact for those in our community who are having their worst day and are in need of help.

So to all of our Telecommunicators:

Thank you for being a steady voice in the most chaotic of times, and for faithfully serving our community and all of our first responder and public service agencies 24/7, 365.

We know you don't hear it enough!

If you see any of our MCSO Telecommunicators out and about, (look for the embroidered MCSO uniform star on the shirt) or have the extra time to speak with them on the phone during a non-emergency, take the time to tell them thanks for the vital job they do for our community!

🎊 CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! 🎊

The Moore County Sheriff's Office would like to congratulate 3 of our Emergency Telecommunicators for being recognized by the Texas Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (TX APCO) & being nominated for multiple awards!

TX APCO is a professional organization with members from various public safety agencies & commercial members who support public safety. Each year, they review professionals in this field from across the state, & nominate those who they believe are the top performers in their occupation to receive awards for being the best at what they do every day, & for some schedules, every night.

Today, the MCSO is proud to share that Telecommunicators Trena Volden & Gabriela Cobos have been nominated for the TX APCO Telecommunicator Team of the Year for 2025!

In addition to this impressive nomination, we would also like to share that Telecommunications Supervisor Robin Grice has also been nominated for the TX APCO Supervisor of the Year for 2025!

All 3 of these women are professionals of the highest degree, & the MCSO is fortunate to have them as part of our team.

Telecommunicators are responsible for running Moore County Central Dispatch for all emergency services in our community. Their work is almost always behind-the-scenes, & perpetually under-recognized, & under-appreciated.

When someone in our community dials 9-1-1 for help in an emergency, these ladies & their fellow Telecommunicators are responsible for dispatching information to get first responders on scene when they're needed most. The MCSO, as well as many other first-responder agencies, could not do what we do effectively without them.

That said, we want to publicly recognize & congratulate these nominees for making the list as some of the best performers in their profession! If you see Trena, Gaby, or Robin out & about, shake their hand & let them know that Moore County appreciates everything they do for our community!!

*Press Release*

On Thursday, February 26th, 2026 Moore County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Moore County in refence to a 14-year-old juvenile runaway who had possibly stolen a firearm from a family member. After speaking with Dumas ISD officials, it was decided to place area schools on a secure status out of an abundance of caution.

Deputies canvassed the area in attempt to locate the juvenile. While searching the area deputies located the missing firearm in a nearby out building. At short time later, a Dumas ISD Police Officer observed the juvenile running in the area of the Dumas Business Park. Visual of the juvenile was lost and it was found the juvenile had stolen a vehicle from the area.

The vehicle was later located by a Dumas Police Department Officer, who attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and later crashed near the intersection of FM 119 and FM 2203. The juvenile was transported to North West Texas Hospital in Amarillo with serious but non-life threating injuries. There was never a threat to the Dumas ISD schools. This is an ongoing joint investigation.
