HAPPY NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK 2026!!!
This week, the Moore County Sheriff's Office would like to express our gratitude to all of the incredible Telecommunicators we have the benefit and honor to be able to work with every day and every night.
Professional Emergency Telecommunicators, commonly known as "Dispatchers" are often the first point of contact for citizens in our community calling for help in an emergency, or to report other issues.
In order to get our Firefighters, EMS personnel, Animal Control, other public services, and Law Enforcement responders on-scene to help, our Telecommunicators maintain a constant state of readiness at the Sheriff's Office so that they are always ready to answer the call and help coordinate resources as needed.
Aside from managing radio traffic for Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement, our Telecommunicators may guide callers through administering CPR, and even stay on the line with callers during emergency situations to help provide them with instructions and a steady source of assistance until other responding units arrive on scene.
When our Telecommunicator team isn't out getting nominated for prestigious awards and volunteering to help with local events, you can find them in the Communications Center, doing what they do best. From a citizen calling to report a theft, to answering a call reporting a major explosion, and everything in between, the Moore County Sheriff's Office Telecommunicator team handles it all, no matter how big or how small the problem.
Often unseen, but always appreciated, we really can't thank our Telecommunicators enough for stepping up time and time again to be the first point of contact for those in our community who are having their worst day and are in need of help.
So to all of our Telecommunicators:
Thank you for being a steady voice in the most chaotic of times, and for faithfully serving our community and all of our first responder and public service agencies 24/7, 365.
We know you don't hear it enough!
If you see any of our MCSO Telecommunicators out and about, (look for the embroidered MCSO uniform star on the shirt) or have the extra time to speak with them on the phone during a non-emergency, take the time to tell them thanks for the vital job they do for our community!
