The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our area from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM today.

There is a credible risk of strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, primarily driven by extreme heat, humidity, and an approaching cold front. The primary severe weather threat is damaging straight-line winds, with hail also possible.

🌡️ Heat index values may reach 105°F, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending extended periods outdoors.

To stay safe:

💧 Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
🏠 Spend time in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
☀️ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
👕 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
👵 Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be vulnerable to heat-related illness.
🐾 Ensure pets have access to shade and fresh water.

If you must work outdoors, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas and watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Call 911 immediately if someone exhibits symptoms such as confusion, loss of consciousness, or a high body temperature.
