11/23/2025
This past Wednesday the 19th, I was honored to be joined by Chief Comeau of the Bow Fire Department, Chief Remillard of the Dunbarton Police Department, and Dr. Rix - EMS Medical Director for Concord Hospital to recognize the outstanding efforts and mutual aid response that resulted in a life saved.
On September 14th, 2025 the Dunbarton Fire Department was dispatched for a resident in cardiac arrest. The first Dunbarton Fire responders were on scene in just over 2 minutes and Dunbarton Police arrived shortly after with an AED. Mutual aid was received from the Bow Fire Department for Advanced Life Support care and transport.
The patient was resuscitated twice pre-hospital and arrived to the emergency department awake, and talking. His advanced care continued at Concord Hospital including the discovery of a blocked artery in his heart, opening of the artery in the catheterization lab, and ongoing care in the Intensive Care Unit.
The length of hospital stay was less than a week and he was discharged to home, 100% neurologically intact.
The difference-maker in this case, was every link in the Chain of Survival working perfectly. High quality bystander CPR was ongoing from the time of cardiac arrest, early 911 access, early access to defibrillation by AED, early access to ALS, and rapid transport to intervention and ongoing definitive care at an appropriate critical care facility.
I am beyond humbled and thankful for such a swift and efficient response by members of the Dunbarton Fire Department, Dunbarton Police Department, and Bow Fire Department.
On behalf of a grateful resident - THANK YOU!
