Duncan Animal Control and the Duncan Police Department are thrilled to share an update on the welfare of the seven dogs who were turned over to Animal Control earlier this month in connection with a stolen dog case.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Stephens County Humane Society, Helping Paws Animal Rescue, Pauls Valley Animal Welfare, Minson Veterinary Clinic, and our Duncan Animal Control officers, all seven pups have now been rescued!
Many of the dogs are currently in foster care and are on their way toward finding loving forever homes. If you are interested in adopting one of these deserving pups, please contact the Stephens County Humane Society to learn more.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stepped up to help these seven dogs get the second chance they deserve. This is a great example of what can happen when our community comes together to help animals in need.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!

School is Back – Drive Safe, Duncan! School starts back up on Thursday and Duncan Police Department reminds drivers that Oklahoma law requires you to stop — and stay stopped — when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop sign extended. With school back in session, be extra alert for children walking to and from school, buses making frequent stops, reduced speed limits in school zones, and busy crosswalks. Let’s work together to keep our students safe!

Do you recognize these dogs?

During Sunday's recovery of the dogs that had been stolen from a local veterinary clinic, Duncan Police obtained a search warrant and discovered seven more dogs at the residence.

We are asking for the public's help to determine if any of these dogs could have also been stolen or are missing.

Before we work with partnering agencies to find new families for these dogs, we want to ensure they aren't missing or stolen.

Please call 580-255-2112 if you have any information about these dogs.

UPDATE 8/4/2026

We understand many members of our community have been concerned about the status of the pet cremations following the burglary at Minson Veterinary Clinic.

According to Dr. Minson, all property related to the burglary has been accounted for and returned. The pet cremations had been moved within the clinic but were never taken from the building.

Thank you to everyone who reached out with concerns and for your continued support of our local businesses and the Duncan Police Department.
