BURN BAN HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14

The following exceptions to the ban are:
*Outdoor cooking on barbeque grills, gas grills, smokers, or similar enclosed cooking devices permitted. Ground fires are prohibited.
*Welding, cutting, grinding, or similar hot work may be conducted only when adequate fire prevention measures are in place, including an immediately available water supply or fire extinguisher, removal of combustible materials when practical, and a dedicated fire watch or spotter.

A Red Flag Fire Day has been issued for today, Monday, August 24, 2026. The warning runs through 9 p.m. tonight.

What we know:
*near-critical fire weather danger
*relative humidity as low as 10-15%
*WSW winds of 10-15 mph
*gusts up to 25 mph
*rapidly drying fuels/dry vegetation

Stephens County is also currently under a burn ban.

Bottom line: today is NOT the day to burn. Do your part to prevent fires from starting!

Stephens County Commissioners have issued a BURN BAN, effective immediately - 8/17/2026.

The following exceptions to the ban are:
