At 0042 hours, Rescue 13 and Rescue 81 were dispatched to respond and assist our automatic aid partners from Reidville and Poplar Springs with a reported vehicle vs. structure incident.

Personnel worked together for approximately two hours to stabilize and shore the damaged structure before clearing the scene.

Last week, members attended the 2026 South Carolina Fire Rescue Conference alongside firefighters from across the state. Members participated in the SC Firefighters Association Business Meeting, Opening Ceremonies, and various training classes throughout the week.

During the conference, Duncan Fire Department was also recognized as a Fire Safe SC Community for the 4th consecutive year and is already on track to earn the designation again in 2026.

We are proud of our members commitment to training, education, and community risk reduction. 🏴‍☠️

May wrapped up our Rope Rescue and Confined Space Rescue training for the quarter. Throughout the quarter, members reviewed and practiced a wide range of skills spanning the Awareness, Operations, and Technician levels.

A special thank you to StarChem for once again allowing us to utilize their facility to host our quarterly automatic aid training. Partnerships like these provide invaluable opportunities for training in realistic environments.

Over the last three days, seven members of the DFD were fortunate to attend the Gary Sinise Foundation Heavy Rescue School taught by Training to Perform Under Pressure and hosted by Cowpens Fire Department alongside Revelation Towing Inc. Students from across the country worked together for two 12 hour days of hands on training, ultimately finishing the third this afternoon with a large scale, real world scenario where the skills learned throughout the weekend were put to the test.

The DFD would like to thank everyone involved in making this training possible and for providing our members the opportunity to continue improving their knowledge, skills, and abilities to better serve our community.
