Summit family, please join me in celebrating Ms. Zelma Atkins as our first Educator of the Week for the 2021-2022 school year. This is Ms. Atkins' first year as a Math Teacher. Ms. Atkins' colleagues say she came in as a first-year math teacher and was rocking it!!! WE ALL LEARNED! Another coworker said Ms. Atkins had brought her A-Game every day this week. She has used me greatly this week, trying to help her with lessons since the home campuses haven't sent work. Another says I want to nominate Ms. Atkins because she hit the floor running. She has been innovative and engaged with each student, building on their strengths while determining their .weaknesses. She exhibits a positive attitude and is a bright light on our campus!!! Go, Ms. Atkins!!!!! And yet another colleague said she is dedicated to her work and the students.

Our board works with students, teachers and staff as they set the direction for our schools and make decisions that impact our community. We are grateful the Duncanville ISD school board has been awarded this deserving recognition.
