A sad day for most but to Shawn and the Wilson Family we say “Thanks For the Memories.”
End of an Era: David’s Seafood Grill Announces Closing After 14 Year Run in Cedar Hill
The Wilson Brothers … David, Shawn and Jason today announced that they have permanently closed DAVID’S SEAFOOD GRILL, the restaurant their father, David Wilson Sr., opened in 2006. Their Dad’s dream was to bring the flavor and the spirit of his hometown of New Orleans Louisiana to his adopted community of Cedar Hill, TX.
Cedar Hill, TX., May 1, 2020 – Fourteen years after welcoming its first guests, David’s Seafood Grill has closed its doors for good … “We’ve had a great run and wish to sincerely thank the community of Cedar Hill and surrounding suburbs for your support and friendship. Our decision didn’t come easily, however, the combination of the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic combined with an uncertain future operating environment contributed to our decision to close” said David Wilson Jr.
A Classic Neighborhood Restaurant with a New Orleans Accent
“Our Father, David Wilson Sr. relocated to Cedar Hill in the 1990’a … it was always his dream to bring some of the flavors of his hometown, New Orleans, Louisiana to his newly adopted home in Cedar Hill” explains David Wilson Jr. David Wilson Sr. spent much of his career managing at Brennan’s, the legendary New Orleans dining landmark noted for its blend of Creole and French cuisine. David Sr., made a decision to open his own restaurant after decades as General Manager of Brennan’s New Orleans & Dallas upon his relocation to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Inspiration for David’s Seafood Menu
The inspiration for David’s Seafood Grill came from his experience growing up in New Orleans. “Our Dad always said that if he ever had the opportunity he’d love to bring New Orleans-style hospitality and combine it with his newly adopted home of Dallas” said David Jr. David’s Seafood Grill was the realization of that dream. Growing up New Orleans our Dad “experienced – great hospitality, Seafood including New Orleans style crab cakes, Gumbo and Po’ boys and of course David’s signature dessert our legendary Bread Pudding” said David Wilson Jr.
In Closing – Serving Staff, Customers & Community
David Wilson Sr’s Son’s … David, Shawn and Jason would like to thank our long time loyal guests, our incredible service team and culinary team. The support of the Community and our Regulars has left a lasting imprint and will always be remembered so fondly. We couldn’t have done it without you. As important as David’s has been to its guests, the restaurant may have had an even greater impact on generations of servers, cooks and managers serving as a launching pad for their lives. “Many of our staff didn’t just earn a living here, they found their spouses and partners here, and formed friendships that will last a lifetime,” said Wilson. “Thanks for the memories and the opportunity to have you be a part of David’s Seafood family. On the one hand we’re sad to see it close … having said that in the immortal words of Dr. Seuss: “Don’t be sad that it’s gone. Be glad that it happened.” Thank You …
