The Maryland Air National Guard’s A-10C Thunderbolt II aircraft and Maryland Army National Guard joint fires observers helped train Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina JTACs along with New York Air National Guard and Marine Corps Reserve during Deliberate Response ’24, a combined and joint close air support integration exercise, from April 1-7, 2024 at Warren Grove Range, NJ to enhance individual and collective readiness and support allied interoperability.

Units train on joint fires observation using close air support integration while facilitating international liaison, coordination, and joint fires interoperability with key allies in a joint and combined environment, synchronized to support exercise objectives for the U.S. EUCOM Immediate Response exercise series.

Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) held an awards, promotion, and Change of Command/Change of Responsibility Ceremony. HHC farewelled and thanked CPT Michael Barreca and 1SG Michael Simmons as the outgoing command team and welcomed CPT Samuel Wiggins and SFC Jordan Laubach as the incoming Commander and 1SG.

1-175th Infantry Joint Fire Observers (JFOs) assigned to HHB, 107 FA, Det 1, recently traveled to Estonia to participate in Spring Storm 23. Soldiers conducted field exercises with Estonian units to build international capabilities and demonstrate the value of the JFO skill set. Additionally, JFOs conducted live fire exercises with British Apache Longbows, Euro fighter Typhoons, and Wildcats to increase their JFO proficiency and the proficiency of Estonian JTACs while working with international observers.

The Soldiers of 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry concluded their Annual Training with a Memorial Service to honor the fallen, Air Assault missions, Live Fire Mortars, Squad STX, and many other training events and live fire ranges.
