On behalf of The Dundee Volunteer Fire Department We’d like to Thank You All. The Ohio County Skills Club Welding and Carpentry students collaborated on this with Skills community outreach project. Shea Shreve led the Skills Outreach Committee by selecting the Dundee Fire Department as the recipient, as well as designing the bench's artwork!

Members of the Dundee volunteer Fire Department participated in hands-on extraction training tonight to strengthen their ability to respond quickly and safely to vehicle accidents and entrapment situations. Regular training like this ensures that Dundee volunteers remain prepared to serve their community with professionalism and efficiency when emergencies occur.

Breezy south winds, low relative humidity values, and dry vegetation will lead to an elevated risk for wildfires this afternoon, mainly between noon and 7 PM. Outdoor burning and activities that involve open sparks or flames are discouraged.

Tuesday 3/31/2026 - Extreme fire danger exists today. PLEASE do not burn anything today. We have limited crews during daytime hours and any fires started require multiple agencies and sometimes multiple counties are involved. Kentucky Divsion Of Forestry is active in the area they do have burn rules in place. From Paducah weather service: "Widespread elevated fire danger is anticipated today across the
region during peak heating.

Sustained winds between 10 to 20 mph with gusts 25 to 35 mph
along with very dry fuels are the main concerns. Isolated gusts in
excess of 35+ mph are also possible.

While minimum RH values this afternoon will range from 28 to 38%
across the region above critical values, the continued very dry
fuels combined with increased winds will make it possible for
wildfires to ignite and spread rapidly."

Trying to find the right words to say is not an easy thing in times like this. Our department and community are shaken and deeply grieving the loss of Chief Mike Sipla. Mike served Dundee Fire Department selflessly for over 5 years. He had a real heart for this community and everyone who knew him, knew how devoted he was to getting people together and helping those in times of need. Mike would give you the shirt off his back and treated those he knew like a brother. While we try to pick up the pieces of Mikes passing, we ask that you be in prayer for his wife Amanda and their family. I know Mike has been there for so many of us and if anyone would like to help his family in their time of need please send us a direct message and we'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

We'll miss you brother.
