A Big Thank You to A&K In The Sky!

The Dundee Township Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to A&K In The Sky for their assistance during our recent grain bin fire.

Their drone, equipped with infrared/thermal imaging capabilities, was an extremely valuable resource during fire operations, helping our crews identify heat and monitor conditions from above.

A&K In The Sky offers a variety of other drone services as well, and we greatly appreciate them generously providing their time, equipment, and expertise to assist our department and community.

Thank you, A&K In The Sky, for your generosity and support! 🚒🚁🔥

AGRICULTURAL STRUCTURE FIRE- Last night at approximately 8 p.m., the Dundee Township Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 17000 block of Cake Rd. Firefighters arrived and located a fire burning in a grain silo filled with silage used for cattle. These types of fires can be especially difficult due to the material compacted in the silo and hard to access. The dust combined with materials in the silo can cause an explosion if not extinguished properly. Firefighters on scene were able to extinguish the fire from a hole at the top of the silo. There were no injuries.

We were able to use a thermal imaging drone, which one of our firefighters on scene had access to as an extra resource to monitor temperatures in and around the silo.

Thank you to Summerfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, Deerfield Fire Department, and Ridgeway Fire Department for their assistance on scene and to Ida Township Fire Department for providing station coverage in Dundee and handling 2 additional calls for us while at the fire.

We would like to recognize three outstanding young members of the Sherloch Forest Apartments community — Jason, Kailynn, and Jasiah. These young neighbors regularly go out of their way to help the elderly residents in their building by taking out trash, carrying groceries, and simply checking in on them. During one of those visits, they discovered that a resident’s husband had fallen and needed help. Two of the kids quickly ran home to get assistance, bringing back Jason, who recognized the seriousness of the situation and immediately called 911 for medical help.

Acts like these show what true community spirit looks like. We are proud to recognize Jason, Kailynn, and Jasiah — along with Jason — for stepping up to help someone in need. Their kindness, quick thinking, and willingness to look out for others are an example for all of us.”

Thank you!
