Saturday October 24th is DEA's National Drug Take Back Day. The lobby of the village office will be open from 10:00am until 2:00pm for anyone to drop off unused or expired medication (tablets, pills and capsules only.) No liquids, gels, creams or syringes will be accepted.

The Red Box drug turn in box remains available daily in the village office on Mondays through Fridays during regular business hours.

M-50 Update and MDOT Determination

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has reviewed the previously reported and conflicting lane use signage and roadway markings on M-50 at Ann Arbor Rd. and has made the following determination:

The far-right lane of westbound M-50 (Tecumseh Rd.) at Ann Arbor Rd. will serve as both a RIGHT-HAND TURN (on to Ann Arbor Rd.) and FORWARD LANE for traffic to continue westbound to enter northbound US-23. It is understood that this is different than past practice, but this is the final decision from MDOT which has management of all state highways, including M-50.

The sign which had been in place restricting the right lane as a turn on to Ann Arbor Rd. ONLY has been removed and a new sign is expected to be installed next week to reflect the current road markings and arrows.

The Dundee Police Department provided a safety es**rt for a trunk and treat event co-sponsored by Williams Brothers Jeep Chrysler and Spirit Ford on Thursday night. Hayrides were provided by the dealerships during the event.

Walk with a Firefighter to School Day - Friday October 23rd

The Dundee Police Department is pleased to help Dundee Elementary School students and Dundee Firefighters walk to school safely this Friday October 23rd during the annual "Walk with a Fireman to School Day."

Although they will be utilizing sidewalks and the riverwalk during most of the trip, all of them will be crossing the road at Main & Macon with our assistance between approximately 8:30am and 9:00am. Please use extra caution on Friday...the school children will do their best to keep the fireman safe and out of the roadway. :-D

Law Enforcement Training in Progress

The Dundee Police Department and several other southeast Michigan law enforcement agencies are conducting live training on Tuesday October 20th and Wednesday October 21st at the Old Mill Banquet Center on Toledo St.

The training is designed to prepare officers to safely respond to an active violence (shooter, etc) situation. The training scenarios include the use of training weapons which look realistic, but are not actual fi****ms - so there is no need for concern if you pass by the Old Mill and observe armed officers engaging in this training.

Our thanks to Kellogg Community College Police Academy and their public safety staff for their guidance and instruction in this training exercise.

Village Residents Report Stolen, Damaged and Defaced Political Signs

The Dundee Police Department has responded to reports of political signs being taken, damaged or removed without permission this week.

The legal posting of these signs is an expression of a personā€™s first amendment rights. Stealing, damaging, or defacing a political campaign sign in Michigan is a criminal misdemeanor (larceny or malicious destruction of property) and offenders could be charged if the candidate or property owner pursue further action.

Halloween decorations were also damaged last night. The caller reported hearing kids yelling late in their neighborhood and assumes they may have done the damage.

Violations should be reported to law enforcement by calling Central Dispatch at 734-243-7070.

Serial Arsonist Targeting Utility Poles hits Dundee

On September 30, 2026, Dundee Police officers responded to a report of a utility pole on fire near the intersection of Pherdun Road and Ann Arbor Road. Witnesses recorded the incident and provided investigators with a description of a vehicle believed to be associated with the incident.

On October 1, 2026, law enforcement agencies in Sterling Heights and Auburn Hills were investigating similar utility pole fires. Auburn Hills Police also issued a law enforcement bulletin containing a vehicle description and license plate information which matched the vehicle identified during the Dundee investigation.

Sterling Heights Police have subsequently arrested a 38-year-old Pittsfield Township woman in connection with a utility pole fire in their jurisdiction. According to Sterling Heights Police, the woman allegedly nearly struck a firefighter while attempting to flee the scene.

The suspect is currently lodged in the Macomb County Jail and is awaiting potential charges from multiple jurisdictions.

Dundee Police Officers Zach Wilburn and Andrew Boski are continuing the Dundee investigation and will submit the case to the Monroe County prosecutor's office for review and consideration of appropriate charges.

Now thatā€™s confusing!

The Village of Dundee was notified this morning that Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) contractors had inadvertently painted lane markings on westbound M-50 at Ann Arbor Rd. which are in contradiction of the posted sign, making that intersection even more confusing.

The Police Department has contacted MDOT and they are reviewing the problem and will correct it as soon as possible. In the meantime, it is suggested that drivers use extra caution āš ļø in that area.
