After careful deliberation and absolutely no complaints whatsoever, we are proud to announce that Wayne Township Fire Department will be transitioning to FULL PINK TURNOUT GEAR effective immediately. 🩷🔥
Chief Yoder has determined that our current gear was simply “too matchy-matchy” and frankly, we deserve to stand out. Studies conducted by absolutely no one confirm that pink is 47% more intimidating at a fire scene.
The new gear features:
🩷 Hot pink jacket & pants
✨ Glitter-reflective trim
💅 Optional rhinestone helmet decals
🌸 Lavender-scented moisture-wicking liner
As you can see, our colleagues at departments across the country have already embraced the look — and honestly? They’re killing it. We can only aspire to this level of excellence.
Some crew members are still “adjusting.”
Stay safe, Dundee. We’ll be the fabulous ones running toward the fire. 🚒💖

On Monday 02/02/2026, our firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in the community. Crews arrived quickly and worked under extremely cold conditions to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.
Two occupants were able to escape the residence and were transported for medical care. We are thankful that no firefighters were injured during the incident.
Unfortunately, the home was a total loss. One nearby residence experienced heat damage, while surrounding homes were protected. Multiple fire departments, utility crews, ODOT, and law enforcement worked together to secure the scene and manage traffic. State Route 93 was temporarily closed and has since reopened.
The Ohio Fire Marshal was also on scene to assist in determining the cause of the fire.
We appreciate the patience and support of our residents during this incident and ask the community to keep the Phillabaum family in your thoughts. Thank you to all responding agencies for their professionalism and teamwork.
