🔥 INCREASED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON 🔥

Relative humidity is forecast to fall into the 20s across the forecast area this afternoon. Breezy winds will also accompany the low afternoon relative humidity. Gusts up to 15 mph are expected for central and southern Tennessee Valley and southwest North Carolina. Gusts will range between 15 and 25 mph for northeast Tennessee into southwest Virginia. The combination of low relative humidity and breezy winds will lead to an elevated fire risk.

Please take precautions and refer to your local burn permitting authorities if you can burn today.

Stay safe and watch for weather updates.

⚠️ Slow down in construction zones—especially at night. It only takes a second for things to go wrong.

🚨 Motor Vehicle Crash Response – April 14, 2026 🚨

Last night at 21:02 hours, Cagle Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported one-vehicle rollover crash with possible entrapment on Highway 111, just south of Dollar General.

CVFD 5212 arrived on scene at 21:03 hours and reported a single-vehicle rollover with all occupants out of the vehicle and no entrapment. According to witnesses, the vehicle struck TDOT temporary barriers within the construction zone, causing it to overturn.

A total of three patients were evaluated on scene and turned over to Puckett EMS for further care.

The vehicle was blocking the northbound lane, and CVFD personnel remained on scene to provide traffic control, ensure scene safety, and mitigate hazards until the roadway was cleared.

đźš’ Responding Units: 5200, 5212, 5213, 5217, 5220, 5225, 5227

We would like to thank Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Griswold and Son Wrecker Service for their assistance. Tennessee Highway Patrol handled the crash investigation.

All units returned to service at 22:36 hours, and command was terminated.

⚠️ Safety Reminder:
Please slow down and use extreme caution in active TDOT construction zones. Temporary barriers, narrowed lanes, and shifting traffic patterns can quickly create dangerous conditions—especially after dark. A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a serious crash.

🚒 Vehicle Fire Response – CVFD 🧯

At 20:55 hours, Cagle Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) was dispatched to a reported truck fire on State Route 8.

CVFD 5212 enroute at the time of dispatch and arrived on scene in 3 minutes, reporting nothing visible from the exterior. Upon investigation, crews located an electrical fire within the engine compartment.

The fire was quickly contained to the firewall insulation and vehicle wiring harness. Both batteries were disconnected, and remaining burned insulation was removed to prevent rekindle. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

Units responding included CVFD 5212, 5217, 5218, 5219, 5225, and Engine 5201.

Thank you to the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) for their assistance.

CVFD units completed the assignment and returned to service at 21:34 hours.

Public Safety Reminder:
Be prepared. In addition to basic emergency supplies, consider keeping a 5 lb or 10 lb ABC fire extinguisher in your vehicle. Proper preparation—and knowing how to use it—can make a significant difference in limiting damage and improving safety.
