How have we reached a point that we allow other people’s opinions to dictate our willingness to speak out?

We have to move past these fears. We must be bold this election cycle.

Failure to step up and speak out leads to a continuation of the same systems that brought us to this point.

Find a candidate. Talk about issues. Let’s get it done.

We kicked it in Harlan tonight with the Shelby and Crawford County Democrats!

My takeaway from tonight? Iowans are ready for better for our communities, and that means supporting candidates who will fight for us, regardless of the party they run under.

Find a candidate. Be their champion. 65 days until Election Day! 💪🏻

It’s 67 days until Election Day!

(FYI - My teacher heart is dying inside).

To celebrate, let’s talk about the 67 reasons why you should vote this year: the 67 members of the Iowa House Republican supermajority.

Here’s where we stand under their watch:
🔴 2nd highest rate of cancer incidences
🔴 27th in K-12 education
🔴 48th for personal income growth
🔴 Minimum wage stagnant at $7.25/hour
🔴 51st in OB-GYN’s per capita
🔴 $1.3 billion dollar deficit
🔴 1st in structurally deficient bridges
🔴 Partisan rule and culture wars

If Republicans hold on or expand this supermajority AND manage to revive their supermajority in the Iowa Senate, it won’t matter who holds the governor’s seat. They’ll have a veto-proof majority that will allow them to continue pushing their agenda with limited ability to check their power.

Make a plan to vote TODAY!

🚨PODCAST EPISODE DROP🚨

All politics is local, and that’s why we’re focused on issues that actually impact our communities. This week we’re tackling water quality, an issue on many Iowans’ minds as we’re seeing alarming trends across our state.

Year 11, Day 1 ✅ It was a great start back to school today. Notice how high my hair gets after 12 hours of first day back fun! 🤪

In all seriousness, you’ll see a lot of folks praising and thanking teachers and other education support professionals this time of year. We see that, and we appreciate it.

But you know what we need more?

Strong advocates that will show up at the ballot box and vote for candidates that will advocate our public school systems.

It’s great to celebrate schools in August, but a nice Facebook post or a text to your favorite teacher isn’t enough. We need people that will stand up for our schools - and all the students and staff in them - every single day.

Supporting public schools can’t just be lip service. It needs action, and you have a great opportunity to do that by voting on November 3rd.
