SEVFD is a 100% volunteer fire department. Community support and fundraising play a critical role in helping fund equipment, training, operations, and emergency response capabilities for our community. If you are interested in helping support the department through fundraising efforts or community involvement, we would love to speak with you.

We are also looking to gauge community interest in starting a future SEVFD Explorer / Junior Firefighter Program for ages 14–17. If you have a son or daughter interested in learning about the fire service, leadership, teamwork, and serving the community, come out and talk with us about future opportunities.

Bring the kids. Meet the crew. Tour the station. Ask questions.

🚨🚨 On May 24th at approximately 17:57 hours, South End Volunteer Fire Department (SEVFD) was dispatched to the report of wires down in the roadway with a possible fire in the area of Press Pickett Road and Talley Road. 🚨🚨

SEVFD responded with Engine 3502 and Squad 3501. Upon arrival, crews found a large tree down blocking the roadway, which had also brought down primary electrical lines and telephone lines.

South End personnel secured the scene and remained on location while utility crews worked to safely repair the damage. We would like to thank Sequatchie Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC), Sequatchie County Highway Department, and Bledsoe Telephone Cooperative for their assistance and teamwork during this incident.

The roadway was safely reopened and all units returned to service without incident.

As storm season continues, we want to remind everyone to stay alert and use caution while traveling during and after severe weather events. Downed trees, power lines, flooding, and other hazards can appear with little warning. Never approach downed power lines and always treat them as energized.

Thank you to all responding agencies and utility partners for helping keep our community

🚨🚨 At Southend Volunteer Fire Department, training and preparation remain a priority. 🚨🚨

SEVFD conducts regular department training every Tuesday evening at 18:30. These trainings are designed to help ensure our firefighters remain prepared, capable, and confident in handling emergencies within our community.

Interested community members and the public are always welcome to attend, observe training, meet our members, and speak with department officers about what it takes to become a firefighter or assist the department through administrative and support functions. There are many ways to serve your community, both on and off the fireground.

This past Tuesday’s training focused on Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) operations. SCBA equipment is critical life safety PPE used by firefighters during structure fires and other hazardous environments where breathable air may be compromised. Firefighters must become comfortable and confident performing required fireground tasks while properly utilizing SCBA equipment under realistic conditions.

Training builds confidence. Confidence builds capability. Capability helps protect our community.

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ If you are interested in serving your community and learning more about the fire service, we encourage you to stop by on Tuesday evenings at 18:30 and meet the team. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯
