Dunmore Firefighters IAFF Local 860

Dunmore Firefighters IAFF Local 860 Dunmore Borough is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania with a population of over 14,000.

The Fire Department protects industrial, educational and residential communities in our response area of 8.7 square miles. Interstates 81 and 84, US 6 and State route 435 add miles of divided highway to response area. The department consists of 12 full time firefighters and a roster of part time firefighters. Although not all inclusive, the fire department responds and/or controls fire, hazardous materials, vehicle, medical and technical rescue emergent and non-emergent incidents.

5/19/26 B-Shift members flowed water through Ladder #6 at the RAIN RALLY for the Dunmore Elementary Center. We hope everyone had a great time and got cooled down on this hot day. Thanks for inviting us and we will see you next year!

5/14/26 C-Shift. Station 6 along with EMS and Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Sunset Street for smoke coming from a home. Chief 6 arrived on scene and reported a smoke condition and activated the SRN per protocol. Firefighters contained the fire to the corner of the home. Thank you to Scranton Firefighters, Pennsylvania Ambulance, Dunmore Borough Police Department.

5/14/26 C-Shift. Station 6 was dispatched along with Police and EMS for a two car MVC with injuries and fluids down on the O'Neil Highway. Firefighters controlled hazards, assisted as needed and remained on scene for approximately 35 minutes.

05/13/26 B-Shift Crews responded to a structure fire early this morning at the 400 block of East Drinker Street. Chief 6 arrived first and reported a moderate smoke condition inside the residence. The fire was held to the second floor bathroom keeping damage minimal.

Mid afternoon crews responded to a Tractor Trailer fire on Interstate 81 in the Borough. Damage was kept to the rear tires of the vehicle.

5/7/26 B-Shift. Rescue 6 responded into Throop Borough at the Snap-On Warehouse for a machine on fire in the building. FD Crews shut the power off to the machine, extinguished the fire and ventilated the structure. Rescue 6 operated on scene for approximately 1 1/2 hours and was released by Command 27.
