The City of Dunn Animal Control Facility is an open admission shelter owned and operated by the Dunn Police Department of Dunn, NC. Area Of Service / Jurisdiction:
Our service area is limited to inside the city limits of Dunn, NC. We are unable to accept animals from outside of our service area. Hours of operation:
Monday- CLOSED
Tuesday-Friday 8AM-12PM
Saturday and Sunday CLOSED

Our adoptions are by appointment only. Please call 910-892-3777 to make an appointment. Surrender:
If you need to surrender your animal please call 910-892-3777 to make an appointment. There is no charge for this service. After hours services: Animal control officers are on call 24 hours a day. If you have an emergency please contact Harnett County dispatch at 910-893-9111. Donations:
Dunn Animal Control Facility encourages the donation of comfort items to animals sheltered here. Providing comfort items helps reduce shelter anxiety, increasing their chances of adoption and making their stay less stressful. Donation items can be dropped off at the shelter between the hours of 8am-12pm Monday-Friday. We also maintain Amazon and Walmart wish list.

Petsense in Dunn is closing!
We are sad to see Petsense close. Not only did they help us adopt out our cats but they also collected donations, raise money, host events all for our shelter animals.
The grooming department help some of our animals get much needed hair cuts and baths.
All the employees made our animals feel welcome, loved, and genuinely cared for.

It was suggested we make this post to thank them and also help with the last effort of getting our shelter animals much needed food and supplies!

Is having a store closing sale where everything is discounted!

The employees know what we need most but here is a quick list!
If you want to help the overwhelming amount of dogs and cats we have at the shelter as well as say goodbye and tell them how much everyone has meant to us all.... please go by.

We despirately need:
Dry puppy food (purina puppy chow, purina one or purina pro plan puppy food)
Canned kitten food (fancy feast or sheba)
Dry dog food (purina dog chow, purina one or purina pro plan)

We always use purina cat chow (or purina one and purina pro plan) as well as purina kitten chow (purina one or purina pro plan).

Any sensitive stomach/skin foods for our sensitive animals.

Dog toys, cat toys, bed and bowls, treats and chews!
We take everything and we will find someone who can use it!

Thank you for your support - all the donations go to our shelter animals or animals in need via our out reach!
And thank you to the wonderful staff at Petsense.... we will miss you greatly! And so will most of our cats that you've taken care of!

Our part-time kennel person is leaving for college soon so we are hiring to fill the position!

What the job entails - caring for the shelter animals, dogs and cats mostly. Cleaning out kennels, feeding, yard time for dogs, general cleaning like laundry, dishes, and sweeping.

This is a part time job up to 32 hours per week and weekends required. Otherwise flexible schedule during week days. We have large dogs and they do jump so some physicality is required.
Beginning pay is 13.56 per hour

💫HELP THE ANIMALS💫

If you want to help our shelter animals here are some things we always need!

Right now we are low on or completely out of:
Canned kitten food (fancy feast)
Dry puppy food (purina puppy chow or purina one puppy food)
Dry dog food (purina one dog food or purina dog chow - we have dogs with food sensitivities to chicken as well)

Everything else on this list we could always use more of since our shelter dogs and cats are on purina chow or purina one.

We do a lot of outreach and provide dog and cat food to whoever may need it so every bit helps animals in need!

If you already have a house full of animals and cannot help by adopting more please share our available animals and/or help by donating some food for our stray shelter animals!

You can also find most of the items we need at Petsense Dunn
We pick up donations from Petsense so you can always purchase it and leave it at the store for us to pick up!

Enrichment toys like large balls (hearding balls) pork chomps and anything cold or cool would also be greatly appreciated by our dogs to help keep them entertained in this hot weather!
