Thank you Carthage Volunteer Fire Department for inviting us to their facilities for training. DVFD appreciates the opportunity to train and work together as a not just within our department but also as a mutual aid department for each other.

At this month’s monthly meeting DVFD members trained on ladder types and minds placement and why/where we put them in place. We also went over V.E.I.S(vent enter isolate search) of a structure and the importance of it. Members also worked on R.I.T(rapid intervention team) scenarios and got reps in using our rit pack setup. Final thing members trained on was a “May Day” situation of a downed fire fighter and the importance of having a rit team in place to help in the saving of a downed member.

9/3/2025 DVFD responded to a possible structure fire. Engine 16 marked on scene and in command and marked it as a working defensive fire. DVFD was assisted from the following departments

At this month’s monthly news meeting members from DVFD awarded FF Howard Thorman his 10 year service plaque. FF Thorman, we appreciate everything you have done for us at the department and for those in your community. We wish you the best in your retirement.
