Dunsmuir Branch Library

Dunsmuir Branch Library We are a small community Library in Dunsmuir, CA in Siskiyou County, which is one of the Northern most counties that border the States of CA & OR.

The Dunsmuir Library is located in the historic downtown of Dunsmuir, California. Dunsmuir has had a library since 1890, when a group of railroad employees started a reading room. The Library became a branch of the county system in 1917 and was housed in the city hall. The current building, owned by the city, was renovated and expanded with local donations, and hard work by the Friends of the Dun

smuir Library. Since Dunsmuir is known for the Union Pacific Railway and also Amtrak station located here, there is an extensive railroad section for patrons to look through at the library. There is also a collection of Dunsmuir High School yearbooks dating back to the 1920's. Victoria, British Columbia, Canada is Dunsmuir, CA Sister City

When she arrived in New York at age 12, her only disappointment with libraries was that she could only borrow 10 books at a time. “Libraries felt like church to me. It felt like a religious experience.”
Of the 107,000+ Houston ISD students who now have no school libraries, 93% live in or near poverty. These are the students who most need the books (print & digital), tech, literacy support, quiet study space, & other resources that school libraries offer.
