Sharing important information that could impact Dunwoody drivers. Changes are coming to SR 400 Exit 5 on August 29. Drivers heading southbound to North Springs MARTA, Abernathy Road, or Hammond Drive will begin using two new temporary exits.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: Changes coming to SR 400 Exit 5 August 29

As construction ramps up on the SR 400 Express Lanes project, drivers heading southbound to North Springs MARTA, Abernathy Road, or Hammond Drive will begin using two new temporary exits:

➡️ Exit 5B → North Springs MARTA
Located ~0.6 miles south of the current Exit 5

➡️ Exit 5A → Abernathy Road + Hammond Drive
Located ~1.1 miles south of the current Exit 5

Access to all destinations will remain open throughout construction. Plan ahead: follow posted signage and allow extra travel time.

The City of Dunwoody invites residents, employees, and visitors to commemorate the lives lost and the courage shown on September 11, 2001, during a day of remembrance on Friday, September 11, 2026. City Hall will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for community members to learn, remember, and share personal connections to a day that changed history.

Inside Council Chambers, visitors can view “September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World,” a commemorative exhibit from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. The poster exhibit documents the events of the day and their lasting impact.

In addition, Dunwoody Preservation Trust, in partnership with students from Mount Vernon School, will host "Recorded Memories" sessions for community members who wish to preserve their personal reflections and experiences related to September 11. These oral histories will become part of DPT's archival collection, helping future generations understand how the events of September 11 affected individuals, families, and communities. Two conference rooms will be dedicated to the recordings, which can be scheduled in advance here: https://bit.ly/911recordedmemories. Walk-ins are welcome and encouraged.

At 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center’s North Tower, Dunwoody Police personnel will observe a moment of silence while ChattComm, Dunwoody’s 911 provider, broadcasts a memorial dispatch. Residents and visitors are welcome to join in this quiet moment of remembrance. City Hall is located at 4800 Ashford Dunwoody Road. Please be aware!

UPDATE at 2:40PM: The gas leak has been repaired and the roadway has reopened.

Road Closure Alert: Chamblee Dunwoody Road is currently closed in both directions between Redfield Drive and Oakpoint Place due to a gas leak.
Emergency crews are on scene, and the closure will remain in effect until further notice. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Meet Kane and help us find him a home. 🐾
As part of Mayor Lynn Deutsch’s initiative spotlighting pets entering DeKalb County Animal Services, Kane joined us at last night’s Dunwoody City Council meeting.
Kane is a nearly 4-year-old, 51-pound brown-and-white pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This goofy, low-riding tank loves other dogs, has a cute stubby tail, and knows how to make volunteers smile, especially when he’s in costume!
Kane is waiting at LifeLine Animal Project and ready to meet his forever family.

Traffic alert! A tree fell and brought down power lines on Trailridge Way near Mt. Vernon Road. This entrance to the neighborhood is closed for now. Please use other options. DeKalb Fire is on the scene, and Georgia Power has been notified.
