⚠️ KNOW BEFORE YOU RIDE ⚠️

Not every electric bike is treated the same under Georgia law. Depending on its speed and motor power, an electric two-wheel vehicle may be classified as an e-bike or as a motor vehicle with additional requirements.

Dunwoody Police is seeing an increase in high-powered electric vehicles being operated in parks, on sidewalks, and along multi-use trails where they may not be permitted.

Parents, before your child rides, take a moment to check:
✅ The vehicle’s classification
✅ Its top speed
✅ Where it can legally be operated

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Don’t Fall for This Fraudulent Scheme 🚨

The Dunwoody Police Department is warning residents about a scam in which criminals impersonate law enforcement officers and threaten arrest unless immediate payment is made.

Recently, a victim was convinced she had failed to appear in response to a subpoena and was told she would be arrested unless she withdrew $12,000 and deposited it into a cryptocurrency kiosk. By the time she realized it was a scam, the money was gone.

⚠️ Remember:
✅ Law enforcement will NEVER call and demand payment to avoid arrest.
✅ Law enforcement will NEVER require payment through cryptocurrency, gift cards, wire transfers, or cash kiosks.
✅ Legitimate court matters are not resolved by making payments over the phone.

🚩 Red Flags of a Scam
• Threats of immediate arrest
• Demands for secrecy
• Requests for payment through cryptocurrency or gift cards
• Pressure to act immediately
• Instructions to go to a kiosk or specific location to make a payment

📞 If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from law enforcement, hang up and call the Dunwoody Police Department directly at 678-382-6900 to verify.

While the city was sleeping, Community Outreach Officers were connecting with unhoused community.

They checked on individuals, built relationships, and offered resources and services to help them move toward stability.

Last Friday, Dunwoody Police joined other agencies for the final leg of the Special Olympics Georgia Law Enforcement Torch Run and attended the Opening Ceremony for Summer Games at Emory.

LETR provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for over 18,000 Special Olympics Georgia athletes.
