Today we’re celebrating some very special members of our DPD family - PSAC Savannah, K9 Max, K9 Ranger, K9 Hank, and K9 Zorro! 💙

Our K9s are more than just working dogs. They are loyal partners, dedicated teammates, and an important part of keeping our community safe. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work, courage, and unconditional love. 🐾💙

UPDATE at 2:40PM: The gas leak has been repaired and the roadway has reopened.

Road Closure Alert: Chamblee Dunwoody Road is currently closed in both directions between Redfield Drive and Oakpoint Place due to a gas leak.
Emergency crews are on scene, and the closure will remain in effect until further notice. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.

A large tree has fallen at Trailridge Way and Mt. Vernon Road, blocking access to The Branches from this location.

Vehicles or pedestrians cannot currently enter or exit The Branches via Trailridge Way. DeKalb Fire Rescue and Public Works crews are on scene.

Please use alternate routes and avoid the area while crews work to clear the roadway.

CRITICALLY MISSING PERSON — PLEASE SHARE

The Dunwoody Police Department is currently searching for Edwin Matheson, an 88-year-old male who was last seen at approximately 3:00 p.m. today on Windhaven Court near Womack Road.

Mr. Matheson has Alzheimer’s disease and is considered critically missing.

He was last seen wearing:

White baseball cap
Red/coral T-shirt with a dolphin on it
Blue jeans

A recent photo of Mr. Matheson has been provided.

If you see Mr. Matheson or know where he may be, please call 911 immediately.

The Dunwoody Police Department has received reports of scammers calling residents pretending to be our police officers , even Chief Carlson. These callers may claim you have a warrant, owe money, missed jury duty, or must make an immediate payment to avoid arrest.

Remember: The Dunwoody Police Department will NEVER demand payment over the phone, request gift cards, cryptocurrency, or threaten immediate arrest if you don’t pay.

This morning, Dunwoody Police joined Brookhaven Police and DeKalb County Police at the Beyond Us Collective Summit in Decatur. 🤝💙

The summit brought together community partners and organizations to share knowledge, resources, and ideas for better serving our communities.

Our officers had the opportunity to learn more about the services available throughout DeKalb County, including resources that can help support our unhoused population and other individuals and families in need.

Strong partnerships and collaboration help us connect people with the right resources and create a stronger, safer community for everyone.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to our Back-to-School Drive! Your generosity helped us provide school supplies to all of our Dunwoody schools—including our middle and high schools.

Our officers had the opportunity to deliver supplies and see firsthand the smiles and excitement these donations brought to our schools. From backpacks and crayons to notebooks and other classroom essentials, every donation helps give our students the tools they need to start the school year ready to learn and succeed. ✏️📓🎨

We are incredibly grateful for a community that continues to support our students, teachers, and schools. Thank you for helping us make a difference! 💙
