Goodchild for Georgia

Goodchild for Georgia My name is Brad Goodchild and I am a lifelong republican running for State House District 79 because we need people with more integrity in our State House.

Commentary from a voter

"With the recently passed House Bill # 1109 legislation there will be no more city wide referendums to approve the $66 million proposed parks bonds that were defeated over 2 - 1 by Dunwoody citizens in 2011 - those decisions can now be made by only four members of the Dunwoody City Council without any voter approval."

This is why I am running for office. Our state reps should represent the people, not the city politicians.

What the voters are saying - "I am a retired principal and have a keen interest in the schools in Dunwoody. I will follow and vote for you."

Thanks to all the volunteers last night who helped us stuff our last letter! Due to a printing error we will be stuffing more tonight. Help is always appreciated!

What the voters are saying:

"You know what? Yeah, you're going to get my vote. I did the research and you're my guy"

Allow me to give you an example of "standards" from our current state performance standards

"SS3H2 The student will discuss the lives of Americans who expanded people’s rights and freedoms in a democracy. a. Paul Revere (independence), Frederick Douglass (civil rights), Susan B. Anthony (women’s rights), Mary McLeod Bethune (education), Franklin D. Roosevelt (New Deal and World War II), Eleanor Roosevelt (United Nations and human rights), Thurgood Marshall (civil rights), Lyndon B. Johnson (Great Society and voting rights), and César Chávez (workers’ rights).

b. Explain social barriers, restrictions, and obstacles that these historical figures had to overcome and describe how they overcame them."

Now, you tell me. Should César Chávez and Lyndon B. Johnson be taught in absence of figures like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson?

This is why we need local control of schools.

What the voters are saying:

"Just like when we passed that bond, the citizens need to get a vote on new taxes. When we created this city we never intended them to have a blank check"

What the voters are saying:

"We need more people like you to change our City, State, and Federal Government."

Our fundraiser over the weekend was a huge success. A good time was had by all, and we raised more money. In the past 72 hours we have taken a big step towards our final mailer. Thanks to everyone who attended!
