🍂 Fall cleanup: Rake in the safety!

DuPont Fire Department reminds you that a little cleanup can help reduce fire hazards around your home:

✅ Clear leaves and pine needles from gutters and roofs.
✅ Remove dry leaves and debris from around and under decks.
✅ Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet from heaters.
✅ Keep exits and walkways clear.

Your gutters are not a leaf storage facility—even if the trees keep making deliveries. 😂🍁

Grab a rake, recruit the family, and make fire safety part of your fall cleanup!

🎃 Tomorrow’s the day, DuPont!

Join your DuPont firefighters for the Pumpkin Patch event!

📅 Saturday, October 24
⏰ 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

Bring the family for face painting, fire engine tours, hands-on equipment activities, and free small pumpkins! There will also be a bloodmobile and food drive—bring a food donation if you can.

Come for the pumpkins, stay because your kid won’t leave the fire engine. 🚒😂

ITS BACK! Our pumpkin patch will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24th, 10am to 1pm. Stop by and meet firefighters and police officers. Learn about our equipment, get your face painted, grab a pumpkin, drop off food for the food bank, and weather permitting, see a medical helicopter land across the street. Extra candy for any parent that donates blood. 🎃🚒🚓🚁🎃

🔥 Give heaters room to work safely!

A recent fire in DuPont is a reminder that everyday items placed too close to a heater can ignite.

The residential sprinkler system activated and kept the fire at bay until firefighters arrived and extinguished the remaining smoldering materials. Without that protection, this fire could have resulted in serious loss.

Keep furniture, bedding, curtains, clothing, toys, and boxes at least 3 feet away from wall heaters, portable heaters, and other heat sources. Never block a heater or use it to dry clothing, and follow the manufacturer’s clearance instructions.

Take a quick look around your home today. A little space can prevent a big emergency.

Today, DuPont Fire joins our community and our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor the victims, their families, and the first responders who answered the call that day.

We remember. We reflect. We will never forget.

Join us for Patriots Day on September 11 at 1 PM at Ross Memorial Park as we honor and remember those lost on 9/11. The event will also include the placement of a commemorative plaque on DuPont’s Freedom Tree. We hope to see you there.

🔥 Stage 2 Burn Ban – Effective Monday, August 17

Effective Monday, August 17, 2026, the City of DuPont will move to a Stage 2 Burn Ban, consistent with Pierce County and surrounding jurisdictions.

Due to continued dry conditions and increased fire danger, recreational fires will be prohibited, including:

Wood-burning backyard fire pits
Outdoor fireplaces burning wood
Campfires and other recreational wood fires

Gas and propane appliances are still permitted, including gas/propane fire pits, fireplaces, and similar devices, when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions and away from combustible materials.

The DuPont Fire Department asks residents to use extra caution with all outdoor heat and ignition sources during these dry conditions.

🚒 Upcoming Fire Officer 1 Training at DuPont Fire!

DuPont Fire Department is partnering with PNW Fire Training LLC to host Fire Officer 1 this September.

📅 September 15–16, 2026
⏰ 0830–1600
📍 DuPont Fire Department
💲 $450 tuition
⚠️ 20 days of online prerequisite coursework required

This course is designed for firefighters preparing to move into a company officer role and covers leadership, IMS, personnel management, administration, inspections, investigations, public education, and more.

Registration deadline: September 5.
