Wishing Our Students a Great School Year!

As students in the Durand-Arkansaw School District head back to the classroom today, and students in Pepin settle into their first few days, all of us at Pepin County Human Services want to wish our students, families, teachers, school staff, and administrators a safe, healthy, and successful school year!

A new school year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, make friendships, overcome challenges, and support one another. We hope every student feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged to be their best.

And a special thank you to the teachers, support staff, social worker, bus drivers, coaches, administrators, parents, and everyone else who works behind the scenes to help our kids succeed.

Here’s to a wonderful 2026–2027 school year throughout Pepin County!

Be kind. Look out for one another. Have a great year!

🎶 Blues Fun Fact! 🎶

Did you know? The roots of blues music traces back to African American work songs, field hollers, and spirituals from the late 1800s. One of the most recognizable features of blues, the "call and response" style, comes from African musical traditions where a singer's line is answered by a group or another musician. This musical conversation helped shape not only the blues, but also jazz, rock 'n' roll, R&B, and even modern hip-hop!

As we enjoy Blues on the Chippewa this weekend, we're celebrating a musical tradition that has influenced generations of artists and changed the sound of American music forever. 🎸🎵

Who's excited for great music, food, and fun this weekend? 👇

Your input is needed!!

We want to hear directly from you — what’s working, what’s challenging, and what you believe would make our community healthier and stronger. Your lived experience is essential to this process. The Pepin County Community Health Assessment is a countywide effort that gathers input on what matters to you as we identifies priority issues that affect safety, learning, workforce stability, family well‑being, and overall quality of life—such as mental health, chronic disease, access to care, housing, childcare, and transportation. For all sectors, the community health assessment provides a shared, evidence‑based picture of what’s happening in Pepin County. It helps guide planning, resource allocation, and collaborative action so that each partner can contribute to a healthier, stronger, and more resilient community.

As we get ready to celebrate the 🇺🇸4th of July🇺🇸, it’s about more than just backyard barbecues, parades, and fireworks in the night sky.🪅

At its core, Independence Day marks the birth of our nation and celebrates the fundamental values of freedom, opportunity, and community. It is a reminder that we are all connected in our shared journey toward building a better, supportive environment where everyone has the chance to thrive.
