On behalf of Durand Ambulance, we extend our deepest sympathy to Chris's family, friends, his NTEC team, and his Durand Fire family as they mourn the loss of one of their own. Thank you, Chris, for your sacrifices, your commitment to others, and the difference you made in our community and Country. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who knew and loved him.

With profound and heartfelt sadness, we have to announce the passing of Firefighter Chris J. Bates. Chris joined the Durand Fire Department in 2007, served as a Lieutenant and Training Officer on the department and was a current Senior Member. Chris was an amazing firefighter and US Marine Veteran. More importantly he was a brilliant husband, father and grandfather to his family. Rest easy brother, we’ll take the watch from here. Godspeed Chris Bates.

Goodbyes are never easy.

Let's take a moment to recognize and thank Jason Robelia for nearly 8 years of dedicated service to Durand Ambulance and our community. For 7 years and 10 months, Jason has answered the call with commitment, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others. His dedication has touched countless lives and made a lasting impact on our community, our team and our extended teams. Having grown up in our community, Jason seems to know just about everyone. His deep roots here and genuine care for the people around him made him an invaluable part of our service. He has always been committed to this community, the people who call it home, those who visited, and those just passing through, he never hesitating to step up when someone needed help. Jason's dedication did not go unnoticed. He was honored EMT of the Year multiple times, a reflection of the respect he earned from his peers and the care he provided to his patients. While awards only tell part of the story, those who worked alongside him know that his greatest strength has always been his compassion and willingness to help others. Over the years, through long calls, challenging calls, shared laughter, shared tears, and many unforgettable moments, we became family. EMS is not an easy job, but people like Jason—with one of the kindest hearts you'll ever meet—make the difficult days a little easier and the good days even better. Jason always had our back. While our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye, we are also incredibly excited for Jason as he begins this new chapter in his life. We look forward to watching him grow and share his talents in new ways. We have lost a valued member of our team, but we know the same compassion, dedication, and work ethic that made him such an outstanding EMT will serve him well wherever his journey leads.

Jason, thank you for everything you have given to Durand Ambulance, your fellow crew members, and this community. You will be missed, but you will always be part of our EMS family. Wishing you nothing but success, happiness, and fulfillment in your next adventure. ❤️🚑

We would like to take a moment to recognize an extended team meber that shows up for our community daily. Tonight he showed up for us. We would like to send a huge thank you to Officer Brandon Bonnerup for sharing his EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) expertise with our team.

Brandon dedicated his time to setting up an obstacle course and provided outstanding instruction throughout our training. His patience, guidance, and ability to teach made the experience both educational and enjoyable for everyone involved. His calm approach and willingness to answer questions helped build confidence and improve the skills of our providers behind the wheel- especially to our newer members.

Brandon, we greatly appreciate your commitment to helping our team train safely and effectively. Thank you, Officer Bonnerup, for investing your time and energy in our service and our community!

Today we celebrate a huge accomplishment for one of our own! Congratulations Logan Mason on graduating from the paramedic program! 🚑🎓

Logan has been an incredible part of our team — smart, quick thinking, funny, and always compassionate with patients and our teams. His ability to stay calm under pressure, make critical decisions, and still bring a smile to those around him is something truly special.

We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and countless hours Logan has put into his education, our service, and Mondovi Area Ambulance Service while reaching this milestone. Our community is lucky to have someone so committed to helping others. Sadly our days with Logan are numbered, as he will eventually transition into his new role elsewhere.

Congratulations, Logan! Your future as a paramedic is incredibly bright. We are excited to watch you continue to grow in EMS and we are so proud to have you as part of our Durand Ambulance family. 💙🚑
