The Pepin County Sheriff's Office is excited to conduct a K9 demonstration for students at Durand-Arkansaw Middle/High School this afternoon. Rest assured, the extra law enforcement vehicles parked along Washington Street behind the school are part of this informative event, and there's no reason for concern about the extra law enforcement vehicles and K9 patrol dogs along Washington Street behind the school. The event will conclude by 3:30 PM.

What is CIP, you ask?

Crisis Intervention Partners (CIP) is a community-based training program designed to strengthen how we respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises, trauma, substance use challenges, and other difficult situations.

While Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training focuses primarily on law enforcement and human services, CIP expands that collaboration by bringing together community partners, including EMS, fire departments, schools, healthcare providers, church groups, dispatchers, and others who commonly encounter individuals in crisis.

This August, Pepin County will begin offering CIP training as part of our continued commitment to improving communication, collaboration, safety, and support for individuals and families in our community.

By working together, we can build a stronger and more compassionate response system for everyone in Pepin County.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Hadley and Eli who held a thrift sale and decided to share some of their proceeds with our K9 partners Pasca and Jack. Without the gracious support from those in our community, young, old, and in between, we wouldn’t have Pasca and Jack on our team.

Pepin County Human Services and the Pepin County Sheriff’s Office are excited to announce that we have received grant funding to bring Crisis Intervention Partners (CIP) training to Pepin County!

Following our successful collaboration with Buffalo County to bring CIT training to our area in 2025, we are excited to continue fostering partnerships, enhancing education, and empowering community response efforts for mental health in Pepin County.

Stay tuned for more information about CIP and discover how you can play a vital role in supporting those affected by a mental health crisis.

We are excited to be in the planning stages of bringing CIP to our community this August, igniting new possibilities and opportunities for everyone.

The Pepin County Sheriff's Office is joining law enforcement agencies across the country in the Click It or Ticket campaign from May 18–31. Deputies will be conducting increased traffic enforcement to encourage everyone to buckle up every trip, every time. Wearing your seat belt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself and your passengers in the event of a crash. Buckle up—it’s the law, and it could save your life.

During National Police Week (May 10–16, 2026), we pause to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

We especially remember Pepin County Deputy Charles Coleman (EOW July 10, 1881) and Pepin County Traffic Officer Starre Miles (EOW November 5, 1945).

Their dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful.
