Power partially restored. 205 meters remain out.

LPEA members are experiencing a power outage in the Electra Lake and Lake Purgatory area. Crews are responding and working to restore power. Approximately 549 meters are out, and the details about the cause and length of the outage are unknown at this time. We will provide updates as they come.

Vallecito Area: We are monitoring the flooding activity in your area and may turn off power with little to no notice to keep the public, first responders, and our crews safe.

To our members in the Vallecito area, LPEA is closely monitoring rising water levels that are creating safety concerns for some of our electric infrastructure. Flooding has reached several utility poles that are dangerously close to the waterline.

The federal EV tax credit — worth up to $7,500 — ends Sept. 30. Colorado’s EV credit will also shrink to just $750 starting in 2026.
LPEA is partnering with and local dealerships to host EV Ride & Drive events in Durango so you can get behind the wheel, ask questions, and learn how to capture these savings before they’re gone.

We want to let our members know of reports of a scam related to electricity bills targeting our members. Please be on high alert for any suspicious calls, emails, or visitors claiming to be from La Plata Electric Association.

Please remember that LPEA will never:
- Show up at your home or business to demand payment.
- Ask you to pay with pre-paid debit cards, cryptocurrencies, or money transfer apps.
- Use aggressive/threatening tactics to collect payment.

If you receive a suspicious call, visit, or email regarding your electricity account, do not provide any personal or financial information. Hang up or walk away and contact LPEA directly at 970-247-5786 or [email protected] to verify your account status.
