Join our meeting this evening (June 2) where Financial Advisor Rachel Kuss of Kennebec Wealth Management will speak on about Estate Planning.

Her educational talk will focus on the importance of estate planning beyond simply distributing assets. The discussion will highlight how clear communication of medical, financial, and personal wishes while healthy and competent can help reduce stress, confusion, and conflict for loved ones during difficult times. Topics will include incapacity planning, healthcare directives and family communication. And also the role of common estate planning documents, all presented from a general educational perspective rather than individualized legal or tax advice.

Rachel provides us with her professional background next.

As the Vice President of Investments, Owner, Wealth Manager, and Financial Planner at Kennebec Wealth Management, I specialize in retirement planning and investment strategies, but most importantly, I see myself as a coach, counselor, and cheerleader for my clients, especially during stressful and challenging times. With a career in the financial services industry that began in 1998, my primary responsibilities involve creating comprehensive financial plans tailored to achieve specific goals, accompanied by strategic investment strategies.

Over the years, I have gained extensive experience working at reputable firms such as Morgan Stanley, UBS Financial Services, and Sterling Trust Company. This journey has allowed me to navigate through various turbulent market periods, providing steadfast support and guidance to my clients. My qualifications include an array of designations and certifications, such as CFP®, AIF®, CRPS®, Series 7, and 65, underscoring my commitment to excellence in financial planning. I am a proud Baylor University alumna.

May 26, 2023. Rotary Club of Durango meeting

05/27/2026

Rotary Club of Durango meeting. May 26, 2023. At 30:41. watch our speaker Rachel Landis of the Good Food Collective.

05/23/2026

Join our meeting on Tuesday, May 26 to listen to our Good Food Collective speaker Rachel Landis. Rachel is the Executive Director and her conversation will be about building a stronger, more equitable regional food system in Southwest Colorado. The Good Food Collective provides connections, resources, policy support and strategic leadership to farmers & ranchers. This helps ensure that they thrive, everyone has access to nourishing food, food businesses are able to succeed, and that we - the residents of Southwest Colorado - are the ones directing what our food system looks like.

Rachel's belief in the power of food systems to act as a near 'cure all' for many of our social and environmental challenges started in 2001 on a homestead in upstate New York. On the shores of Lake Masseweepie, food was a source of purpose, community, joy, identity, and stewardship.

Now off the homestead, she has sought out opportunities that weave together community-building, sustainability, and food systems. The Good Food Collective is a near-perfect union of all three. Rachel hopes to find ways for the GFC to address root causes of inequity and poverty, as well as mitigate climate change and build local resilience.

NO LIVESTREAM for this, so do come to our meeting in person.
