The “Red Zone” refers to the first several weeks of the college semester, when students may face an increased risk of sexual violence.

As we start a new school year, remember: consent matters, boundaries deserve respect, and we all have a role in creating a safer campus community.

Check in with your friends. Practice active bystander intervention. Respect boundaries. Know your resources.

Having support nearby can make it easier for survivors to reach out when they’re ready.

SASO is now providing free, confidential advocacy and support in Montezuma and Dolores counties, with services centered on each survivor’s needs, choices, and pace.

Survivors in Montezuma and Dolores counties now have more access to free, confidential support close to home.

Our upcoming 8-week group has been revised! The group will meet virtually from September 9 through December 16, on Wednesdays from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Depending on the comfort and needs of current participants, additional members may be able to join after the group has begun. August is National Wellness Month.

Wellness looks different for everyone, and there is no “right” way to care for yourself.

Some days, getting out of bed is an accomplishment. Other days, you may have the energy to connect with a friend, take a walk, or do something that brings you joy. Wherever you are today is okay.

If these ideas feel helpful, take what you need and leave what doesn’t. Your wellness journey is your own, and even the smallest act of caring for yourself can matter.

You deserve compassion, support, and the space to heal at your own pace.
