As summer heats up and more families head to beautiful Lake Texoma, we want everyone to remember one thing:
Our goal is simple:
Everyone goes out, has fun, and comes home safe.
Chief Deputy Tyler Balentine and Deputy Tyler Shupert are bringing you some important lake safety reminders before you hit the water this summer:
🛟 Wear your life jacket.
It can save your life, even if you’re a strong swimmer.
🚤 Know your boat and know your limits.
Operate equipment safely and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
☀️ Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen .
Oklahoma heat can sneak up on you quickly.
🏊 Swim only in designated areas .
Currents, boat traffic, and hidden hazards can create dangerous situations.
🌩️ Check the weather before heading out.
Lake conditions can change fast.
🚫 Never drink and operate a boat or personal watercraft Alcohol and water never mix when safety is involved.
