☀️🚤 LAKE TEXOMA SAFETY REMINDER FROM YOUR BRYAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE 🌊🛟

As summer heats up and more families head to beautiful Lake Texoma, we want everyone to remember one thing:

Our goal is simple:
Everyone goes out, has fun, and comes home safe.

Chief Deputy Tyler Balentine and Deputy Tyler Shupert are bringing you some important lake safety reminders before you hit the water this summer:

🛟 Wear your life jacket.
It can save your life, even if you’re a strong swimmer.

🚤 Know your boat and know your limits.
Operate equipment safely and avoid taking unnecessary risks.

☀️ Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen .
Oklahoma heat can sneak up on you quickly.

🏊 Swim only in designated areas .
Currents, boat traffic, and hidden hazards can create dangerous situations.

🌩️ Check the weather before heading out.
Lake conditions can change fast.

🚫 Never drink and operate a boat or personal watercraft Alcohol and water never mix when safety is involved.

Before leaving for the lake, remember your essentials:

Moving over isn’t just the right thing to do when you see flashing lights along the side of a road — it’s the law. 🚨

‼️ In Oklahoma, the law requires any driver approaching a stationary vehicle with flashing or hazard lights to move over into the next lane. 👉 If that is not possible, drivers should proceed with “due caution” and slow to a “safe speed for the existing road, weather, and traffic conditions.”

Safety on the roads is a shared responsibility – let’s work together so everyone makes it home safe and sound.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend, it is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selfless service of those who gave everything for this great nation.

At the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, we proudly stand in remembrance of our fallen heroes and keep their families in our thoughts and prayers. Their legacy lives on through the freedoms we enjoy every day and through the continued service of those who wear the badge and uniform today.

As you spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, please take a moment to remember the true meaning of this day and honor those who never made it home.
