The support of family plays a vital role in the success of every law enforcement officer, and we appreciate you being there to celebrate this important occasion.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Councilman Morrison and Judge Pedraza for taking the time to participate in today’s ceremony and help recognize this important milestone in Seth’s career.

This week’s PPM (Partnered Preventative Measure): Lock up your outdoor property 🔐

Property thieves don’t just target vehicles. They look for easy opportunities with unsecured items left outside.

Common targets include:
• 🚲 Bikes
• 🧰 Tools
• 🌿 Lawn equipment
• 🔥 Grills
• 🧊 Coolers
• 🏈 Sports equipment

Before the weekend, take a few extra minutes to protect your property:
• Store valuables inside when possible
• Lock up bikes and equipment
• Avoid leaving expensive items outside overnight

If it’s easy to grab, it’s easier to steal. 🚫

🚔 This week’s PPM (Partnered Preventative Measure): Don’t leave keys or key fobs inside your vehicle.

Leaving keys in your car can quickly turn a burglary into a vehicle theft. It only takes a few seconds for someone to take advantage of the opportunity, even if your vehicle is:
• Parked in your driveway
• Left running “just for a minute”
• In a familiar neighborhood

Help protect your vehicle by following these simple steps:
🔑 Take your keys with you every time
🔑 Never leave a spare key inside the vehicle
🔑 Keep key fobs out of sight and never leave them inside the car

A few extra seconds can help prevent a major loss. Stay alert and stay safe, Durant! 🚓

Yesterday marked a major advancement for public safety in rural Southeast Oklahoma with the unveiling of Rapid DNA technology through the partnership between the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Choctaw Nation Public Safety, and our department.
This cutting-edge capability allows investigators to obtain possible presumptive DNA matches in approximately 90 minutes after submission, helping generate leads faster, pursue investigations more aggressively, and assist in identifying and apprehending perpetrators in real time.
Instead of transporting evidence hours away to distant laboratories and awaiting results, investigators in Southeast Oklahoma now have access to advanced forensic technology closer to home, strengthening our ability to solve crimes and protect victims more efficiently.
This investment represents more than technology. It reflects our continued commitment to building trust within our communities, protecting the vulnerable, and advancing modern policing and public safety efforts for the citizens we serve.
We are proud to stand alongside our partners as we continue bringing innovative tools and collaborative solutions to the forefront of law enforcement and criminal investigations.

• Vehicles
• Even entry into your home

Whether you’re leaving or turning in for the night:
• Close the garage
• Don’t leave it open unattended
