🌞 HEAT ADVISORY – Durant & Bryan County 🌞

A Heat Advisory is in effect today for Durant and the surrounding Bryan County area. High temperatures combined with dangerous humidity can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses.

🚑 Stay Safe in the Heat:
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🧢 Protect yourself with a hat and sunscreen if you’ll be outdoors.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
👵 Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the heat.

⚠️ Know the warning signs of heat illness:
• Heavy sweating, dizziness, headache, nausea, or muscle cramps may be signs of heat exhaustion.
• Confusion, loss of consciousness, hot/dry skin, or a body temperature above 103°F may indicate heat stroke—a life-threatening emergency. Call 911 immediately.

Your Bryan County EMS team is here when you need us, but the best emergency is the one that can be prevented. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, and take care of one another.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe. 💚🚑

🚨 National EMS Moment of Silence – July 18, 2026

Join IAMTCS, along with the National EMS Memorial Service and the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, as we pause to honor the courageous EMS professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

🗓 Saturday, July 18, 2026
🕕 6:00 PM EDT (5:00 PM CDT • 4:00 PM MDT • 3:00 PM PDT)

As the National EMS Memorial Service takes place in Arlington, Virginia, agencies across the country are encouraged to observe 10–20 seconds of radio or general silence as a unified tribute to our fallen EMS providers.

Whether you’re in a communications center, on an ambulance, at a base, or simply supporting EMS from your community, we invite you to join this nationwide moment of remembrance. Together, we honor those who gave everything in service to others and stand with the families, friends, and colleagues they left behind.

Gone, but never forgotten. 💙🚑
