Let’s celebrate the success of our 2026 International Baccalaureate students!

36 Hornets earned college credit through their International Baccalaureate exam scores. And as the only high school in Durham that offers the International Baccalaureate Program, that success carries extra weight for our school and our district.

For anyone who isn’t familiar with International Baccalaureate: it is a college preparatory program offering college level courses used in thousands of schools worldwide, built around the idea that students should learn to think critically and write clearly, not just memorize for a test. Universities around the world view students who complete the program highly and typically provide college credit.

This year, six of our seniors did more than earn credit, they fulfilled the requirements for the International Baccalaureate Diploma; over two years they earned college credit in six subject areas, wrote an independent research essay, completed a course on critical thinking, and undertook hours of community service. 🎉 **Summer Bridge 2026: COMPLETE!** ✅

What an incredible two days of learning, laughter, teamwork, and new beginnings! Our newest Hornets kicked off their high school journey by making connections, exploring campus, meeting new friends, learning what it means to be part of the Hive, and showing their Hornet pride from day one.

A huge thank you to our student ambassadors, teachers, counselors, staff, and families who helped make this experience unforgettable. Your energy and support set the tone for an amazing year ahead.
