🐾🦎🐸 Animal Classification Dress-Up Day! 🦅🐍🦋

Third grade was taken over by some pretty amazing animals! 🐾 As we wrapped up our unit on animal classification, students took a personality quiz to discover which animal group they belonged to and dressed up to bring their results to life! From mammals and birds to reptiles, amphibians, and fish, our students showed off their creativity while celebrating everything they learned about the animal kingdom. 🐢🐠🦜 Reading is always more fun when you get to be what you’re learning about! ❤️🔬 What a wild way to wrap up our unit! 🌿🐾

This is a different kind of giveaway 🩷

In June, Melissa Pendrey shared a drawing of Jet Coffee on social media. People loved it. The likes, comments, and notifications started pouring in.

But as her phone lit up, she was sitting in a doctor’s office, receiving news that would change her life forever.

Stage 2 breast cancer.

Melissa has called Lafayette home for nine years. She fell in love with Acadiana for its people, culture, and community. As a teaching artist with Acadiana Center for the Arts PACE program, she brings creativity to classrooms across Acadiana.

Cancer is no stranger to Melissa. She lost her mother in February and has also lost her grandmother to cancer.

Now, in the middle of her own battle, she continues to approach each day with remarkable joy and gratitude.

And her dreams haven’t changed.

She still wants to draw every iconic landmark across Acadiana. Art has become an escape and a source of joy during an incredibly difficult chapter.

But she shared another dream with us.

One day, she hopes to be on the giving side of generosity, helping others, especially children.

Even while needing help herself, she’s dreaming of helping someone else 🩷

Melissa has graciously given us the last 10 prints of her Jet Coffee artwork, and we want to share them with you!

Ms. Young's classroom took a trip back in time to Ancient Egypt! 🇪🇬📜 Two of our young historians enjoyed playing Senet, an ancient Egyptian board game played thousands of years ago! 🎲 We love bringing history to life through hands-on learning, friendly competition, and a little fun! 💕📚 Learning about the past, one move at a time! 🐪✨
