πŸ“Š Election Results Update – February 10 Special Election

The February 10 Special Election results were officially certified on February 20.

In Riverview School District:

πŸ—³ 7,147 ballots were counted
πŸ“ˆ 42.64% voter turnout – the highest turnout in King County for this election.

Riverview voters considered three measures:

β€’ βœ… Proposition 1 – Educational Programs & Operations Levy
Passed with 60.35% approval
(Simple majority required)

β€’ βœ… Proposition 2 – Technology & Capital Projects Levy
Passed with 59.57% approval
(Simple majority required)

Both levies saw a substantial increase in support compared to the 2022 election and will continue providing critical local funding for programs, staff, technology, and services that go beyond what the state funds as basic education.

β€’ ❌ Proposition 3 – Capital Bond
Received 54.66% approval
(60% supermajority required)

While a majority of voters supported the bond, it did not meet the 60% threshold required for passage. The district is currently evaluating next steps and is considering conducting a community survey to better understand the factors behind the outcome and gather feedback moving forward.

Most importantly, thank you to those who participated in respectful discussions, asked thoughtful questions, and stayed engaged throughout the process. Civil discourse is what helps communities grow.

Riverview has a long history of showing up for its students β€” and that continued engagement matters.

πŸ—³οΈ TODAY IS THE DAY! Ballots are due by 8 PM! ⏰

GREAT NEWS: We've validated! Enough ballots have been turned in, but now we need a simple majority for Propositions 1 and 2 to pass and a supermajority (60%) for Proposition 3 to pass. Every vote counts!

Let your voice be heard, Riverview! We're just hours away from the deadline to support our students and schools. πŸ’™

THREE measures are on your ballot:

1️⃣ Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy Renewal – Funds teachers, counselors, paras, coaches, and support staff. Supports music, arts, theater, athletics, library services, and programs the state underfunds. Without this levy: programs get cut, staffing is reduced.

2️⃣ Technology and Capital Projects Levy Renewal – 100% of district technology is levy-funded! Covers student & staff devices, instructional software, CTE equipment, emergency communication systems, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, cameras, and critical building maintenance. Without this levy: the entire technology program and critical maintenance are at risk.

3️⃣ Capital Improvement Bond – NEW $185.5M total investment across all 6 schools. Includes rebuilding Tolt Middle School (~$132M) plus 11 other district-wide projects addressing safety, HVAC, athletics, and facility improvements.

πŸ“ Drop Box Locations (open until 8 PM):

Redmond Ridge Park & Ride

THANK YOU to all staff, students, community members, organizations, all 7 PTSAs, and both local district unions who have endorsed these measures and shared their voices! πŸ™

We're ending with our most popular endorsement videoβ€”straight from Tolt Middle School, the Duder (Morgan Henley) explains why you should vote YES! 🎬Even if you do not have kids in Riverview Schools, your YES vote still matters. (In the video, Morgan uses the word β€œlevy,” but he is referring to Proposition 3, the Capital Improvement Bond.)
