Wednesday evening, Duxbury Education Foundation officers Sherri Hussar and Colin Longval, along with DHS students Lucia Vonella and Harper Weekly, shared how the DEF continues to transform our schools and supprt learning. This year alone, the foundation is injecting nearly $70,000 into DPS classrooms and programs! We are so very grateful to DEF and our community donors for their continued support and partnership!

Saturday morning's Elementary Science Fair was an absolute blast. Our young students were on point, and did a fantastic job presenting their projects and sharing what they learned. I should have known this already... but was nevertheless bowled over to learn that this wonderful event has been held for 41 years running.

Two things that immediately struck me were the number of resident and family volunteers who took their time to support our students... and the sheer volume of teachers and administrators (many who live out of town) who also participated and helped make the fair a success.

Finally, a huge thank-you to Sara Milner, our Elementary Curriculum Supervisor, for running a flawless event!

Energized to serve for three more years, and excited to welcome Aun Holland to the Duxbury School Committee! I owe the community and my family a great debt of gratitude for your support, thank you. Finally, a huge shout-out to our election staff for working well into Saturday night! You are the best!

The Library Trustees hosted another excellent candidate forum this week. A special thank you to incumbents Casey Seaman and Lucy Weilbrenner for their continued dedication to Duxbury.

During the discussion on the budget, Lucy and Casey lent a perspective that I appreciate and share. When asked about balancing library needs against other town priorities, Lucy rightly noted that it isn't a competition, but a collaboration—and that for Duxbury to function well, every department needs support. Casey reinforced this, reminding us that the library, like all of our town departments, is a vital service, not just an "extra."

We are lucky to have leaders in Duxbury who are so committed to a unified, collaborative approach to our town's needs. Their focus on supporting the whole community, and recognizing the value of all our essential services working together, is exactly what makes Duxbury so strong.

Last Thursday, I had the privilege of sitting down with Aun Holland and Fernando Guitart for the School Committee Candidate Forum. It was a great opportunity to cut through the noise and have an honest conversation about the road ahead for Duxbury Public Schools. A huge shout out and thank-you to the Library Board of Trustees for sponsoring!

After serving nearly nine years on School Committee, I still believe there is no position in municipal government more important than supporting the education of our children.

In our discussion, I shared my thoughts on the fiscal reality facing DPS, the future of Alden Elementary School, and more. I encourage you to watch the recording and review the facts.

Most importantly, please make your voice heard. I ask for your vote at in-person voting on Saturday, March 28th at the Steele Athletic Center.

In its meeting yesterday, the Finance Committee voted unanimously to approve the School Committee's recommended FY27 budget ($46.4M). I'm grateful not only for the committee's support, but also for members' thoughtful questions that made the process stronger.

This Friday, the School Committee meets to workshop how we connect this budget to student success leading up to Annual Town Meeting. We are fulfilling our commitment to host public forums that explain exactly how these funds align with district priorities.
