Tuesday morning update - today is definately a day to be weather aware!

Gibson County is under an Enhanced Risk (3/5) for severe weather today.

The main threat will be this afternoon and evening. This window will probably be around 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Strong tornadoes, large hail and winds exceeding 70 mph are all on the table.

Today is the day to prepare for severe weather!

• Don’t rely on a storm siren to alert you of a warning! Always have multiple ways to receive watches and warning! Have a weather radio in your house and place of business so you’ll be sure to receive watches and warnings as soon as they are issued.
• Review your safety plan at home and at work so everyone will know what to do in case a warning is issued.
• Make sure you have flashlights and candles in case of a power outage.
• Make sure your family, friends and neighbors are aware of the risk of severe weather coming up. Please share this post!

We are actively tracking the weather situation for tonight in Dyer. A reminder that the shelter cannot be opened during school hours.

The shelter is closed for the evening. If something pops up we will reopen and post to this page. We wish everyone a safe night.

The shelter will continue to be open throughout the afternoon as storms continue to pop up. We will be open until we post that we have shut the shelter. Please leave in plenty of time to arrive safely. Roads are quickly flooding, and travel will be slower with the heavy rain. We want to make sure everyone is safe.
