🚲🛴 Safety Reminder for Parents and Young Riders 🛴🚲

The City of Dysart would like to remind parents and guardians to please discuss safe riding practices with your children when operating electric bikes, scooters, bicycles, and other similar devices around town.

We have recently received complaints from pedestrians and reports of several close calls involving riders and people walking.

Please reinforce the following safety rules:

🛑 Stop at all stop signs and obey traffic laws.
🚶 Do not ride on sidewalks within the Central Business District. Sidewalks are intended for pedestrian use and riders should use the street where permitted.
👀 Watch for pedestrians, vehicles, and other obstacles at all times.
⚠️ Ride at a safe speed and stay alert.

Everyone shares the responsibility of keeping our community safe. A quick conversation at home can help prevent accidents and ensure that our sidewalks and streets remain safe for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.

Due to weather, DFAC will be closed today, Thursday 6/11, for day hours. Depending on the weather, evening hours are to be determined.

Update 6/10/26 12:37 PM: Power has been restored to the City of Dysart. If you still do not have power, please call City Hall at (319) 476-5690.

Traer and Dysart are without power. ITC is working on the issue. We will try and keep you informed as we learn more.
