Dysart Ambulance Service had a great night of training with the personnel from the Dysart Swimming Pool. The first scenario was to control bleeding and the second scenario was to rescue a victim from the water and then perform CPR.
Shout out to Tama County, Iowa 911 Communications. The pool personnel were able to actually call 911 and get the experience of talking to a dispatcher. This year we even had the 911 Director and one of the dispatchers in Dysart to help be evaluators!

๐Ÿš‘ EMS Week Wrap-Up ๐Ÿš‘
As EMS Week comes to a close, we want to extend a huge thank you to all of the members of the Dysart Ambulance Service โ€” including those who chose to remain anonymous โ€” for the countless hours, dedication, compassion, and sacrifice they give to our community each and every day.

We hope everyone has enjoyed getting to know some of the incredible people who make up our DAS crew this week. Our service is made up of volunteers and staff from many different backgrounds and experiences, all working together with one shared goal: providing quality care to the people of Dysart and the surrounding area when they need it most.

Dysart Ambulance Service is always looking for additional volunteers to help keep our service strong. Whether you are interested in becoming a driver, attendant, provider, or simply learning more about what is involved, we encourage you to reach out! You can talk to any DAS member, send us a message on Facebook, or email the service for more information.

Thank you again to our amazing crew and to the community for your continued support of Dysart Ambulance Service! ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿš‘ EMS Week Crew Member Spotlight ๐Ÿš‘
Our final Dysart Ambulance Service crew member spotlight for EMS Week is Billie Van Egmond. Billie has worked full-time for DAS since 2018, and before that served for many years as a volunteer driver, EMT, and AEMT.

When asked about the most rewarding part of serving, Billie shared, โ€œSome of my most memorable calls are ones that the patient doesnโ€™t require much care. The calls that I can hold their hand or give them reassurance are the best for me.โ€

Billie wants the community to know that โ€œbeing in EMS is very exciting and rewarding. You have the knowledge and training to possibly make someoneโ€™s worst day a little better.โ€

Billie also shared that serving others has always been an important part of her life. Starting at age 17, she served as a medic in the Iowa National Guard and now continues that passion for service by caring for the Dysart community in a job she loves.

Thank you, Billie, for your dedication, compassion, and continued service to the Dysart community! ๐Ÿ’™
