While the MN Legislature is taking up bills related to COVID-19 in the special session coming up this month, the MN Athletic Trainers’ Association (MATA) is continuing their attempts to pass H.F. 2920. This bill broadly expands the scope of practice of athletic trainers (ATs). This scope of practice expansion would allow ATs to practice in any health setting, treating patients with any diagnosis across the entire life spectrum. This bill is being considered “non-controversial” because other groups have chosen to remain silent. So it is important that we send the message to the entire MN Legislature that it is indeed controversial. They are asking for more autonomy and authority than the PT profession currently has here in MN! APTA MN is asking you to contact your state legislators to voice your opposition to this bill, and everyone here at the MNPTPAC is begging you to do so as soon as possible. Thank you, as always, for your commitment to your profession!
